35057's 1987 Volkswagen Golf

This is my 87 VW Golf II. German Spec. I was told it has a GTI motor in it. 1.8L SOHC FI. It hauls pretty good for a beater w/ 850,000 kilometers on it! When I first got this car I thought it was too nice to beat on. So I took care of it, untill it started giving me problems. I now take it off roading regularly. She has seen air time. It'll take out small trees and good sized dirt mounds. Tree stumps take their toll on the oil pan, tho.

The Sterio
I installed this when I first bought the car. -$800 The car had NO sterio and no wires, NOTHING. I had to re-rout everything myself. New power cables, ground and speaker leads.

Kenwood headunit
Kenwood 3.5" front speakers
Sondstream 6.5 Tarantula rear speakers
Rockford Fosgate 150x2 amp for the 6.5's
Hifonics 250x2 amp for the sub
Hifonics 12" w/ ported box
.5 farad cap.

This setup is VERY loud!! I want to have it mike'd before I leave to findout exactly what db range I am hitting. For some reason Pantera sounds INCREDIBLE in this car! The box hits like a sledge! No rattles, tho..

I drilled the airbox and got a nice intake noise from it. It kind of sounds like a DOHC motor. It has been rebuilt, I think someone installed the GTI injection kit.

If anyone knows what the Euro Spec cars have that the stateside ones don't, LET ME KNOW! I am junking the car and I want to take some parts home w/ me..

More pictures to come..

I got her good and muddy the other day. The slope I was parked on is a lot more extreem than it looks. I first parked it and went to get out, I noticed that my LR wheel was off the ground! I almost slid under the car.
