My first EFI swap with the advice and tutelage of Mark Whitley was a 1981 El Camino that I bought in San Antonio, Texas. It was a $500 work car that I pulled the rod knocking 350/3 speed out of and swapped in a 305 with a borg warner 4 speed to get around. That served me well for 2 years in that format.
But I always wanted more.... After seeing Mark's Malibu I knew I needed more!! I got sent to a lovely destination in the pacific called Johnston Island for a year tour. Saving my money I bought a LT1/6 speed from a 1994 Camaro, assorted parts, and a full Hotchkis suspension kit.
This car served me well, even better actually as I drove this at West Point for a year or so before I decided I HAD to have a Monte Carlo SS.

This is my current driver. A $400 235,000 mile used truck. I replaced the transmission and long block at 238,000 when the tranny gave up. Redid the fuel injection. Then I couldn't stop. I dropped it with a ZQ8 suspension kit from GM and Belltech spindles. Replaced the rear end with a 4x4 S10 rear and added an SLP take out posi differential. Added leather seats and overhead console from a Bravada. Window tint, stereo, and AC R134 conversion. Could have bought a new truck I guess but the body was so good coming from Florida it was worth keeping to me. Plus no new car payment!
