February 5, 2002 was a very sad day for BRG at Laguna Seca.BRG and I 180ed beyond the exit of Turn 6, hit the inside tirewall almost flat against the passenger-sideWHUMP. I made a real mess of the tirewallthe track had to be shut down so it could be rebuilt. After a little work with a pry bar I was able to drive BRG to the paddock (damage: besides cosmetic, a broken engine mount and temp. sending unit). Miatas are sturdy little fellows! After a minute or two of sympathy Aaron Tachibana noticed BRG had treadmarks all along the passenger-side of his bodySympathy quickly turned into laughter as the guys recommended that in the future I should try to stay away from monster trucks!Photos courtesy Gene Stanley March 25, While BRG was being repaired, my OTM, a completely stock Protegi5, played at Aaron's 6th Anniversary Laguna Seca event. Here I'm being passed by my instructor for the day, Doug Peete, driving his Spec Miata.More about my Protegi5May 25, Back on the track at Rupert Bragg-Smith's Spring Mountain Motorsports Park in Pahrump, Nevada.
