I was going for some alliteration in the title of this post but didnt quite get there. But you get the point. My driving was ham fisted and short sighted. I finished last in my class and 86 of 102 entrants (in my defense I could really use a new set of tires). However, I did have a ton of fun and got to talk about cars all morning, we got 4 runs, I spun one (see picture), coned one, and had two clean runs. The course design was fun, and at the turn around there was no cones, just airstrip so you had to be the judge of where to turn. I would like to thank the organizers of the event at FAST and Phillip who is a professional photographer (if he isnt, he should be) who takes pictures during the event and posts them up on flickr for people to grab for free. Plus I have never seen a driver as fun to watch as Phillip. He has a miata with a ton of body roll, but uses the weight transfer to his advantage and throws the car through the cones! But it was a tough start to the morning though, I couldnt get my lights on so I decided to drive with my brights on. The Sheriffs office was doing a sting and I got pulled over for the first time ever in Rusty. I though I was going to get a ticket for faulty equipment but apparently I havent paid registration for a year even though I have insurance and a valid license (and I hadnt had any morning beers). So I thanks the Sheriff for alertng me to that and I would take care of it ASAP, and I got an escort to the Hillsborough County line to make sure I didnt get stopped again. Pretty cool. The day was fine though, as I got to race, the Z had no mechanical issues, and I got my beers and a nap in the hammock in the backyard when I got back. I am trying to figure out if I want to get a second set of rims (I like the chrome Diamond D-spokes) and some slicks. Oh well, life is full of tough choices. Enjoy the pics.
