Mitty at Road Atlanta 2008 and Mancation is in the books. My little Brother and I really had a good time as usual. The GA Z Club was out in full force and got to meet a lot of really nice people. Plus the event had several Z race cars and loads of great classic race cars like Corvettes, Porsches, Mustangs, F-1 cars, Jags, the list goes on and on.
On the way up from South Florida to Road Atlanta GA...when I think Tifton I think construction. There was a good 30 miles of 50 mph construction. I didnt know if I was driving on a highway or in a giant autocross.
Like a salmon swimming upstream to its home, Rusty seemed to know the way to Summit Racing just south of Atlanta.
At a gas stop in Gainesville. On the way north I got over 5 hours before I needed to stop for gas. I should paint Rusty green and try to write it off as a hybrid on my taxes!
I really like this shot. My little brother and I were sitting on a hill and the Z was just sitting there so I snapped a picture and it turned out really well.
The Kumho truck was there again only this year it was gray. They brought several MX5 Miatas to autocross and had some giveaways.
A quiet corner of Road Atlanta behind the vendors row for me and Rusty to pose.
Me eagerly awaiting the arrival of the Playboy Bunnies...
My Little Bro and the Playboy Bunnies...
And my Little Brother entering a porta-potty. Classic...just classic!
This is a picture of the Z in front of Chateau Elan. Type "the Grape Stomp Lady" into Youtube or Photobucket and watch the hilarious video! Between Rusty and the fountain on the right is the scene of where the Grape Stomp Lady occurred (we confirmed with the bartender).
The Z shuttling me and my little brother to get our Zack-Attack on for lunch every day. And the large drink makes for a nice 1/2 and 1/2 rum and coke to enjoy the rest of the afternoon of racing!
The Georgia Z Club was there so I snapped a picture of Rusty and their banner. A really nice friendly bunch of guys...
This was one of my favorite Z race cars. We watched it start and then on the first lap it overtook a green Porsche in turn 1. When I talked to the owner/driver/mechanic he was a really great guy but you could tell he was tired from racing all weekend.
And here it is on the track!
We found a great place to watch the racecars come off the track and back into the pits. Very cool.
This was another really cool Z but I didnt see it on the track, the owner said it broke. It looked really fast though and it is a Z-car!
And another Z racecar! You couldnt throw a stick in the pits and not hit a Z! It was great...
We sit in the VIP tent in the paddock for a while which has a great view of staging and watching the race cars stage. Yup, another Z...
The colors on this Z were really cool. There was also a Porsche with the same paint scheme...but in my opinion, the Z looked cooler.
Some non-Z related cars...
Sometimes you dont get to drive back to the pits. The radiator was still spewing water and the engine was still shimmering with heat while being carted back on the flatbed. These guys risk their lives to live the dream...I hope the driver was OK.
