Well, there was the end of the year 2007 BBQ presented by the SFZCC and the Miami 240SX club. As usual, the event was well planned, the venue was great and the people were super friendly. I could only stay for a little while because the meet was at Bill Bags State Park in Miami and I had to be at a holiday party in the afternoon. Here are some pics.
Someone with a camera caught me pulling up.
Elsewhere in the State Park, it was really pretty...hard to believe I was still in South Florida!
Yup, another old vs new shot!
Again, someone caught me talking Z! When I arrived, I had the only 1st gen and people gravitated towards it, really friendly people that were fun to talk to. As usual, Wife got big kudos for her patience and the level of approved funding! By the way, thats me in the blue shirt and Flying Dog hat.
I love this picture, it was taken on the north side of the Rickenbacker Causeway facing the skyline of Miami. I had to pay the toll again because I got back on going the wrong way but it was totally worth the $1.50. I might get this poster-sized for the garage!
My Z was in the Winter 2008 issue of Nissan Sport magazine, representing zcar.com. Its pretty cool seeing a project that I have poured buckets of blood, sweat, and tears into being recognized by a national publication. Thanks Nissan Sport!
Yup, lower right hand side. I am going to hire an old kolledge buddy to handle all of the fan mail and the paparazzi, we are going to set up a card table and chair, and park Rusty outside and autograph the magazine for my fans. HA HA HA Seriously, it is pretty cool.
Every Zcar club meet, road trip, or autocross starts with a trip to the gas station for some gas in the tank and some air in the tires. Since it is cool out, and my best pal is becoming very well behaved in a vehicle, Indy rides along with me.
Indy is well-behaved in the Z but doesnt have his "shifting legs" under him. Plus its hard for me to keep my foot out of the gas but he likes riding hanging out the window giving other dogs the "drive-by barking".
This is a photo from early 2004 from the second owner of my Z showing my Z and his bulldog, Max. Apparently Max used to like to ride in the Z and even chewed on the passenger side window knob. He (not Max, the second owner) mailed me the picture and I scanned it in...when I asked about a tribute he wrote: Max, just a great dog, funny and dearly missed! (Born:2-03 died: 08-05, RIP)
Not really a "car-show" but after the Mitty at the beginning of May, I piddled with the rollbar and 4-point harness install and finally got the Z out of the garage, and gave it a bath. I took these at a local park in Boca Raton and I think they came out pretty good.
There was a SFZCC meet in Kendal, south of Miami. I was scheduled for an autocross practice on Saturday and then there were two for Sunday but I bit off more than I could chew at work so I decided to do this meet as a compermise. It was too hot to drive my Z over an hour each way but as usual the people were really friendly and I was glad I went.
Here is Rusty and the rest of the field. Lots of 350s but there was at least one of almost every generation of Z present.

Another shot of Rusty.

I am the one in the blue hat. People were curious to see what I have done to the car. I could stay at these things for hours talking with people and then picking thier brains about what they have done to thier cars.

A nice shot of the Miami skyline on the way home, headed north.

Did someone say "Skyline"? Here is a white GTR that was really cool. But honestly, up close, it wasnt as impressive as the shots in the magazines. But it was cool.

A nice 300ZX. Very well done.

And a 300Z. A very nice clean example.

I really like this 350z. The black 350z's look really really cool. I cant wait until I can find a black 350Z for under 5K...it will probably be a few years yet, but I will definately try for wife approval (hey, I sold my boat!).

This is the SFZCC president's 350Z. It boasts over 340 RWHP. It is very sharp, he just bought an old original 240Z and has been restoring it only to find no compression in one of the cylinders. Hope he gets it fixed soon.
Rustys second magazine appearance! I submitted the pitcure to blackdragonauto at the beginning of 2008 and kind of forgot about it after the next catalog came out. Mid week, a tough week, I was thumbing through the new blacdragonauto catalog and found Rusty on page 33! Pretty cool, check it out.

Well, the new Nissan Sport magazine front cover came out and Rusty is prominantly featured on the front cover right under the horizontal bar on the "5". I submitted the picture and kind of forgot about it. Pretty cool!

So I was scheduled to complete a dyno day with the South Florida Z Car Club. Unfortunately, a "how to have a baby" class was changed to the same date ad the dyno day. Since I want to get my future daughter out safe and have a clue about whats going on, Wifey and I went to the baby class and I re-scheduled the dyno day. Japtrix was very understanding and the people there are very professional and knowelgable.
Rode up there with my Z-buddy Jim. Here is Rusty in the parking lot of Japtrix. They do all kinds of work on Z's, Subies, RX7's, etc. Just getting to walk around their shop is pretty cool.
And a shot of the Mighty Mighty Z-car strapped to the dyno. Dont usually get to see this view!

Here are the results from the dyno. They are concerning because of the AFR, it was 19.3 which indicates that Rusty is barely getting gas at WOT. Also HP is only 115, down 13 hp from the last dyno. My Z is running really lean and I need to correct it. On the second run, the tuner blocked off the fuel return line to my FPR and, while the HP was up to 137, the AFR was down slightly to about 18. I have a fuel problem.
