-Intro-
Hey, welcome to my 1989 Pontiac Trans Am GTA. After searching for a Third Generation F-body for 2 years. I came across this one, I bought it in July 2005 with 170,289 KMs on it. The engine is the 5.7L L98, and that comes with the automatic 700R4. Has a Viper alarm also.
Of the 8470 GTAs produced, 952 made it to Canada for 1989. 1659 of 8470 being Black. 259 of 8470 having Black cloth interior. So its not the most common. The paint was redone the stock 41U Black not too long ago, and the 16" gold GTA wheels add some nice contrast. The T-tops are great for cruising, and the power windows, locks, hatch, antenna, etc. just add to the fun.

Here you can see the shiny paint, as well as the shaved side moulding. This car turns alot of heads, and people ask about the car whenever I stop at the gas station, store, parking lot, etc.

Previous owner painted the tips gold, and I didn't like it at first, but I started getting used to it. They are 3.5" chrome now. The exhaust itself is stock, except for having no cat, just a straight pipe in its place. Everyone compliments the sound. I think it sounds good...but could always sound better. The tint on the hatch was bubbled and peeled. I tore it off one day, cleaned off the glue, and got it redone with 5%. The third brake light on the deck lid was missing, I picked up one off eBay for a great price, took it apart and cleaned it up. Will install in spring '06.

Wheels, these 16x8 wheels came on all GTAs, and was an option on 91-92 Trans Ams, they are very light at 17 lbs but can be difficult to clean. Tires are 245/50/16 Goodyear Eagle HPs. You can see the big rear brakes on this thing. GTAs came with 10.5" Fronts and 11.7" rears.

The T-Tops were available as an option through all 82-92 Trans Am/Firebird/Camaro. But not every car with the L98 engine had T-Tops, due to the body flex from the torque. Common leaks are starting on this car too, so I'll have to replace the seals eventully.

Detailing the car every spring is normal, here's some progress shots. First is after wash, Second is after Clay Bar, Third is polish and wax. Taking your time is essential on black cars, detail means everything
