Ah, yes, the Ubu-Wagon. Or shall I call it -- the BatWagon.

Ubu-T-Man's 1997 Subaru Legacy

I just recieved a '97 Subaru Legacy Outback Wagon, worth much more than what it cost. It is completely kickass, and white. That doesn't mean that it's not in rough shape -- there is a good amount of damage to the exterior - a pretty well F'ed up rear bumper, some minor and extensive dent/scrape damage to the left side, and a real nasty interior, but one that I can definately work with.

Oh, and I forgot to mention - there are quite a few mechanical issues that do not necessitate immediate attention -- the brake rotors are warped, the clutch is really worn out and lousy, and it's hard to get into 1st gear.

Other than that, its a big ass engine and a large wagon, that gets good gas mileage, especially compared to cars I've driven before.

Also, the muffler has seen better days. It has been patched twice and is loud as f**king hell. I'm probably going to get it replaced, and although I prefer a regular muffler that actually muffles the sound, right now the loud exhaust noises muffle the nasty transmission and clutch noises that will haunt me until they need expensive repair.

There are minor things too -- but these are some of the things that give the car character and me something to work with. The driver's window switch is broken off -- the window can still be opened but only with a carefully placed fingernail and some luck. The driver's door shuts, but the sensor doesn't know it most of the time.

Still reading? Well aren't you a glutton for punishment.

Despite all of these speedbumps, there are a lot of really freaking awesome things about this car and I love it already.

It has awesome fog lights, that I'm going to replace with hyper bright lights, in color, and I'm going to slap a kickass new lens over them with the bat-symbol. I know, it already f**king rules.

It has kickass tweeter-type 1" speakers, and 6.5" speakers in the front and rear doors. I'm planning on putting in a kickass component system in the front, and some loud 6.5s in the back, all after I get a deck. Amp and subs and then an amp for the subs too, but all in good time, m'boy. I actually plan on building a custom box for the back, one that holds 6x9's and 12" subs, as well as the amps. That may be a pipe dream, or one that I will not follow through on. We'll see.

As of now I have put on awesome pedal covers that really kick ass. I have a spinny air freshener and it f**king rules. Also, I have tons of pennies in my ashtray.

I bought a vinyl dash kit for the Ubu, but it f**king beats the shit out of vinyl -- it's aluminum (Al). It's the start of making the interior all shiny and sweet as all hell.

I plan on not doing much to the exterior, perhaps a paint touch-up at first on the driver side. I want to do some stripes, but something fun and different -- I'll have to wait and see. I think I want color, but the car is white and gray.

Also, I'm definately putting a big-ass bat-symbol on the front. I'm thinking the new Batman Begins logo, or perhaps the comic-book one. I'm pretty sure I want no ring around the bat. We'll see. Most of the cool batman auto merchandise that I'm looking at has the circle around the bat, but for the hood I like this;

But I'm thinking of inverting the wings back or something. Ubu-T-Man's 1997 Subaru Legacy

First I'm going to get some seat covers and floors mats, because the interior needs a serious pick-me-up... it just sucks.

And that's all for now.
