I have had this car since '99 and have been thru a lot with it. My basic goal with this rebuild was to have at least 300hp to the rear wheels and break into the 12s. Also, I still want to have fun in Solo2.
Well, I am 40 miles away from being done with the 2000 mile breakin period. At this point I have had it up to 5500 rpm and tuned it roughly to 6psi.
I should be flooring during the first weekend of December. Hopefully, nothing lets go on me.
I have had some interesting problems with the car and thankfully I resolved them. The first was a major hesitation that came out of the blue. It would actually affect the tach needle. Turns out even though my alternator was functioning fine...it was producing some strange EMI/RFI interference that was messing with the signal coming from the CAS. Even with the alternator belt off it happened. So, I put a new FD alternator in...Problem solved!
I also did the alternator relocation from Pineapple Racing ...for no real reason other than it is different.
The latest things that have been done to her is a new rebuild (1940 miles on it), street ported exhaust and intake (RB templates), Haltech E6K, Greddy FMIC, BNR Stage 3 turbo (Hybrid 60-1 compressor).
I did the engine rebuild my self and installed the Haltech(My first one). Tired of other people's mistakes causing me trouble. The highlights of the rebuild are brand new rotor housings, RA apex seals with oem springs, new sideseals (.003" clearance) and corner seals, S4 TII rotors, and the RB lightened steel flywheel.
The last time I ran this car it ran a 13.78 @ 103. That was with a small hybrid (T04E-46), stock top mount intercooler, and my old exhaust setup (Bonez 2.5" downpipe, mid pipe, and ApexI N1 duals). Now I have the full Racing beat turbo back (3" downpipe). So, with that and the FMIC things should be a little faster !
Santiago for all his time, parts, and common sense! Thanks man! Also, want to thank all the guys at rx7club.com that have answered all my questions. And the guys at mazdamotorsports.com for such cheap parts!
