This site is the home for my '88 Mustang LX. This is my newest addition to my Mustang collection, my '88 is a 2.3 4 cylinder 5-Speed, but not for long, I am going to swap this car out to make it basically a Full-On GT in LX skin until I can afford the ground effects. This will be the home for my 5.0 5-SPEED SWAP!!!
The Story...
I dont know the entire history on the car but I do know it belonged to a guy that used to go to my school before I did. 2 of my friends were the most recent of owners. The guy owned this car for several years before joining the Marines or whatever, although before he had left he ws driving this car after the county had freshly chip-tarred the backroads and was apparently driving a little too fast and ditched it, bending the front end to the right, bending the hood, and making the door meet the fender. so it sat in his dad's yard next to his shed for about 4 years or so, even being used as a shed itself. My friend Chris and I had been eyeing the car but had never approached the house untill the man had a yard sale. He was moving to the southwest and was either going to sell the car, or drag it down there and MAYBE fix it. He was asking $300 and we looked it over and then left, we thought it was pretty rough from the doors foreward but it was overall ok. We came back and examined it a bit more in some important areas before the negotiations started. We ended up gettin him down to $160 bucks because he had to leave the next day. So Chris and I drug it home and tore into it. Chris had an '87 Notchback that he had put into a pole during winter and regretted getting rid of it, so we decided it would honor the '87 if we had used its good parts. 10 and a half hours and 400 bucks later, we had what we wanted off the '87. Before Chris and I went to the junkyard He decided to fly through the neighborhood doing about 70 with the hood still attached, and it doesnt latch because of the wreck, so it flies up and hits the window and roof, causing some decent damage. After getting the car to my house we swap the engine from the '88 motor to the '87 motor, lined up the new sheetmetal after my fresh bodywork and fired ut up, ran good, we worked out some bugs like a froze thermostat and new front brakes (still needs rears) and it was a pretty reliable car, then the heater core went out and Chris lost interest adn sold it to Rick, Rick started to tear it apart and lost interest. So I got him a FREE 1989 Plymouth Gran Fury former Colorado State patrol car and payed to have it hauled up, and basically for $72 dollars in gas I had an '88 LX.
