BassLink Install

Mark and Jack have been interested in installing BassLink subwoofers in their cars for some time. They knew that I added my own subwoofer so they asked me to help out.

Jack and Mark parked their 740s in my driveway back to back to make it easy to work together and compare notes.

Here is where we tapped into the DSP Amp. We used standard crimp on connectors and wrapped everything in the factory style cloth tape. It helps to install the crimp on connectors as far away as possible from the plug that goes into the amp. The provides extra clearance for the amp plug. There is plenty of room on Jack's car, which does not have navigation. Mark's car has navigation, which limits clearance above the DSP amp.

Jack, is on the tall side but manages to fit into the trunk to get things wired.

Mark, being a bit shorter, takes a different approach. He just climbs into the trunk.

The wires have been run and he is positioning the mounting brackets..

and securing them to the floor. He did lift up the carpeting and make sure that he was drilling into solid metal.

Jack took a different approach. He decided to suspend his BassLink from the bottom of the parcel shelf.

The bolts that mount through the speaker and into the mounting brackets proved to be quite a challenge. They would not fit through the speaker and out the other side without having to drill out the holes a bit. This part took a great deal of time for both Mark and Jack because we did not discover this until the mounting brackets were already mounted in the cars. After struggling for quite a while, they both had to give up, remove the brackets from the car, drill them out and remount them.

Finally getting everything screwed together.

Here is Marks completed installation. He mounted his BassLink over to the side.

Jack mounted his so that he the ski bag would still open. There is enough space underneath that he can tuck things underneath.
