1976 Ford Falcon Restoration/modification
Page 1 pics and info on the car
Page 2 list of things done and other stuff
Yeah its an XB sedan I got it in 2004 when I was 15 and still in highschool, then done it up a bit with the 6 in itfor daily driving. I finished it just before my 17th birthday and the summer holidays of 05.
Now is copped a warm 351Clevo, shift kitted FMX and 9inch diff all recond and installed by me
This was my first car and i love it, dont think I'll be sellin it.
Im an apprentice mechanic by trade so Im rebuilding a 351 cleveland i baught for $600 and doing it up for about 350-400hp at the crank. thatll be mated up to an FMX that ive got rebuilt at the auto trans reco shop with shift kit and hi-stall, my 9inch diff will also get a workover with 3,55 gears and shortened to fit big rubber.
351 2V aussie spec cleveland
The reason our clevos are Aussie spec is because our 4V units had a head design unique to Australia so you cant interchange parts from american or canadian clevos. But im using 2v heads so im able to get a head off an american car to save me money when i replace my cracked head. Another cool thing about the clevo is that the heads are interchangable from left to right bank.
Forged pistons im using are made by ACL
Im also using a full performance racing rebuild kit from ACL including all engine bearings, gaskets and piston rings. The cam im using is a Crane hydraulic with 230 degrees of advanced duration at 0.50thou and 310thou lift backed up by race rockers and springs.
This is the P6 ford LTD (aussie spec) which my clevo and FMX came out of.
Update may/june09
Got alot done B&M shifter on the FMX was a pain coz it was designed for a c4 but putting in the 351 n trans was easy. shifter and speedo are in so are the extractors and msd dizzy. had to swap the mannifold around but it wasent that much of a pain hopefully hear it run soon. all ive got now is put the radiator and fans in, the 9inch diff in and hook up a heap of wiering.
Update April09
Things get serious, first thing i do to celebrate the end of the 6 cly i rip a massive burnout obviously! engine and trans is ripped out. engine bay is detailed repainted and rewired. new V8 mounting plates are installed. XC taillights are baught and installed. hole is cut in floor for shifter and work starts on the interior. I really gotta move it to make my october 25 deadline!

Did nothing to the car since i was so busy moving house and jobs.
Update January/February 09
To finish off my engine parts spree i got a MSD 6AL ignition kit it comes with billet electric dizzy, 6AL module, coil and leads also finlly fitted my heads to the clevo and test fitted everything else to it but the rocker studs are wrong and so is the thermostst housing.

Update October 08
purchased ratchet shifter, trans cooler, K&N chrome filter, 3/8 alloy fuel line, chrome dipstick, oil pres switch thermostat and housing, oil filter and engine mounting plates so it can accept the clevo. I also finally got round to ordering a new head to replace the cracked one.

Got myself some 2 inch gauges from autopro on special for $30 each. Oil pressure, water temp and volt all with lights inside for night.
Update March08
Hell yeah just got a pair of clevo heads for $70 with no cracks and there ported out already! All they need is an acid bath a skim and new valve seats.
Update Feb 08
my engine machinist just told me that one of the clevo heads is cracked, SHIT!
Update Feb 08
Stripped the clevo down at work and who would of guessed the bores were 4 inches wide to the mm and that’s standard bore mate.
Update Jan 08
Finally baught that V8 I always wanted for her 351 Cleveland 2V out of a 77 P6 LTD, bought it for $600. This engine will get a full rebuild and a good working over for more power.
Still with the 6 cylinder in her but these pics are to show you how low she is now that ive put lower springs in her.
This is what she looked like when I first got her, I got her when I was 15 years old, there was rust everywhere, but it did come with some nice 14 inch Chrome 12 slotter rims with fat tyres wrapped around em.
This is what the engine looked like when I first got it, it did come with some 3 into 1 headers and an LPG system that was in dangerous shape so me and my Dad chopped the lines up and threw it out. The engine is a 250 cubic inch Pre flow straight six engine. The engine was not tired even after 400,000 kilometers on the clock but the tranz was full of water (dodgey radiator) which made it easy to blow up. The engine bay looks alot better with black firewall and chrome trimmings shame it dosent make it any faster.
heres a pic during the resto after the first coat of paint(more coats followed)
This is just another pic of me and my brother when I first got the car.
Heres a list of stuff id like to do in the future but most of this probably wont get into the car
GT bonnet
new quarter panels
fresh booth respray
alluminium drop tank
RRS coilover suspension
rack and pinion steering
chrome almost everything
Even though i live in Perth the kangaroos are still everywhere, they get freaked out by the lights and noises cars make so its hard to avoid them when they scatter and they do screw up your car if you hit one.
