This is my first full size truck. It is a 1983 Chevy Scottsdale K-10,Originally equipped with a 5.0/305 c.i. with a 700-R4 Transmission.I bought it needing a motor with a blown 350 transmission. The motor was purchased from the guy I bought the truck from, who had bought it from a junkyard and was told it was a 350.After pulling the heads off and finding a blown head gasket I found out it was actually a 400,6.6L(you can imagine my surprise and excitement!)The Heads have been milled, cleaned, and inspected for cracks,as well as given a 3 angle valve grind,MSD coil,Accel wires, and U-Groove header plugs,Edelbrock Performer intake,Competition Cams Pushrods, and Flow-Tech headers,Energy Suspension Polyurethane motor mounts,And I have hand polished the previously painted aluminum valve covers and it is being prepared for a full Flowmaster exhaust.Much more is anticipated for the motor and the body.So far I have gotten new fenders, inner fenders, radiator brace, radiator, upper and lower fan shroud from The Paddock(about $750) and i am looking for a hood, bed and doors and a interior from a Grey or Black Silverado.I was interior denied with the Scottsdale package.Th e truck has all brand new brakes all the way around, rotors, calipers, rubber lines to the calipers, pads, drums, shoes.I have just got the truck back from having the tranny rebuilt.Heavy duty rebuild with a shift kit,and now have a True dual straight pipe exhaust with Turbo 2 mufflers, and it sounds Great!
Progress lately on the truck has been slow due to a house fire on Dec 2 which is still under repair. I also have an 86 Cavalier Z-24 project car on here check it out and leave me a comment.
*UPDATE!!* March 17 2006
My sending units in both gas tanks aren't working right and the right tank won't dispense fuel. It has been like this since I have owned it, and now I finally have the time and tools to drop both tanks to check for crimped fuel lines and wiring for the gauge. I figure while I'm under there with power tools :D I might as well loosen those rusty ass bolts and pull off the bed. I need to go through and take off the multiple old exhaust hangers and check all of the brake lines and etc.. sand off the rust, and find out what else lurks beneath. I have fried another starter due to 1/4" clearance from Header to solenoid so now I need to find a Mini Starter, and find out why I amm losing oil pressure from 0 psi at idle to 15 psi at 40-60 mph
with a full oil pan, and a brand new 70 psi pump. It's the little things that piss me off. Especially when they are back to back.......More later.
Hondas are like tampons, every pussy needs one!
