All i have to say is there is nothing that drives like a big block big body Cadillac...
-I just added seatbelts as of 4-7-08 so now its just about legal to drive.. other than my cracked windshield..
There it is.. with the hood ready to go..
i like this one
backed the badboy out for a startup and wash
He suprised me today 4-1-08 on his birthday with my cadillac at work.. great little brother huh..
my brother putting the last engine touch in.. the air filter..
me in front of my caddy.. its been along time comin
a nice shot of the front.. that 472 really makes her move
a daylight shot.. dirty but you can see through that
12-5-07 we fired her up with the new engine for the 1st time since 2004 and ive never heard an engine run that clean without being timed and tuned... nothing runs like a cadillac.. I couldnt have done it without my brother.. he invested hundreds of hours helping me do my engine.. 99.9% of job is due to him... I have the stainless steel dipstick tube and chrome dipstick on order from Cad500 online and tonight 12-7-07 i will be putting the throttle carburetor spring on so i can start and run her.
- Well today is 12-19-07 and i still havent recieved my dipstick tube and stick from Cad500.com 8.2 performance after ordering it on the 7th. I give them a call and they didnt put the order in until 9 days after my time of order. Nice service.. Also another thing, if you have a question or need to get a hold of someone? good luck. They answer the phone about every 30-50 phone calls.. Not very impressed. Just a warning.. i dont know of anyone else that makes the dipstick tubes. Thanks..
My engine just about completed..
-This is my 1970 Cadillac Deville convertible which is my main restoration focus as of now. on 20" Panther Origins. I bought the sled in May of 2004 for $2,000 in not so hot shape. But to a guy like me she looked awesome. Im one of those people that can see the beauty in an old cherry. The interior was completley shot, the top fabric was toasted, yet the top motor works perfectly and the most important, the body is as straight as an arrow. The motor ran well until i blew it 2 miles after i bought it on the way home. You know what they say... She always runs the best right before she goes...When i pulled the valley pan it looked like a west virginia coal mine.
The Story on her
-In Janurary of 2005 I spent a good $2800 on the motor and transmission. Also all the work has been done in my garage by my brother and i, the kid is a genius. We Completley rebuilt the 472ci motor,TH400transmission and torque converter to new again. I also purchased a set of Panther origin 20" wheels on falken tires to add to the look. The next thing i will be doing is the interior and top, a good $3400 job at least. Time is hard to come by going to college and working fulltime. I got caught up in my 4x4 trucks lately, but shes in the works soon.
most importantly she needs to run and then we will give her some new interior and that black top.
-The engine is completley redone using only top quality parts. It has a Comp cam, 750 cfm Edelbrock Carburetor, Chrome Valve covers, and soon to have a brand new exhaust system. My plan is to have her on the road by Late November. Also the tags havent been paid since 2002 so thats an issue.
The stock specifications are 375hp and 525ft/ib of torque. The engine shop said with these pistons, cam, and exhaust i should easily be at 440hp with stock carb and intake.
-One of my drawbacks was the lost harmonic balancer. But me and my brother located and pulled one from a 1973 472.
- As of 11-30-07 She is fully wired, all the vaccum lines are put on, and the starters dropped in. We located a waterneck due to not being able to find the original.
-Now all that is needed are the hoses which will come in at kragen on the 1st and we will install the belts, radiator, torque down the essential bolts, fill her with coolant, oil, and tranny fluid and she'll be ready to prime...
A front pic of my cad in my garage.. sorry about the delays.. i just got married and bought a new house
The Front end of the gray beast without the hood
Side view from above
Interior Picture.. i know im working on it.. its a $2500 job
Another full interior shot..
The engine rebuilt about 85% there.. The intake painted rustoleum gloss black, chrome valve covers, new waterpump and new Edelbrock 750cfm electric choke.. a little dusty
