Check this shit out...car girl since the very beginning ;)

here's my (other) baby Old Yeller, he's a 1978 chevy van 20 with a 350, over 275K miles and running strong!

Originally belonged to some kinda distant relative out in Arizona where (I think) it was used to haul around a horse trailer. My dad flew out and drove it all the way back to FL for my grandparents who were the ones that originally bought it. When it was still in good shape it was basically the top of the line. Used to have an aftermarket cruise control and a elaborate security system that would even lock the hood down. (The locks and door sensors are still in it) Some high tech shit for back in '78. Fake wood paneling everywhere, captains chairs in front, used to have a CB (Im still mad my dad ditched it) and shag carpeting everywhere, even the ceiling. :) It's my shaggin wagon lol. But, years of being down here in this crap FL weather has taken its toll. We had to rip the carpet out not too long ago due to bad moisture damage, the fake wood and the stuff on the ceiling is all sagging and curling and there some major rust damage I'm gonna have to repair. The engine's never been rebuilt and is still goin' strong but is starting to get a lil tired. *sigh* Rebuilding it is on my to do list whenever I win the lotto. I refuse to let this old beast go and one of these days I swear to god I'll make it show worthy.

This poor old thing's first car show. Celery City Cruisers 22nd Annual Show. 11-12-05
I think it should've been put in the 'stock truck' class...they put it in 'all others,' with all of 3 cars in the class....so it got the 3rd place trophy! ;-)

here's some of my favorite car quotes:

*cupholders should never outnumber cylinders

*see it's a drag race, we both have cars, we line up, we launch, you lose.

*life's short....haul ass

*if you've never used a tanker truck as a vanity mirror, if your dining guide isnt a gas-food-lodging sign, if you think a home has to have 4 walls...get out of the way

*bad ass ladies dont drive mercedes

*the only carb that matters is under my hood

*asphalt angel

*there's being one with the road, then there's burning your intials in it.

*the v8 gives you so much back, and all you do is stomp on it

*For those few seconds you're not thinking about sex, money or downshifting.

*tell fear to kiss your rear differential

*the shortest distance between two points is irrelevant

*a road diverged in a wood I took the path less traveled by state troopers

*Chevy had added wires to the rear window to clear fog and frost first. Dodge is adding wires under the wipers so they can be freed when frozen and not burn up the motor. But Ford is ahead of them all ... they're adding wire elements to the tailgates of all thier trucks ... to keep your hands warm while you're pushing.

I hear ya about the "other class" at car shows... car guys just don't seem to get it. They do get pretty jealous when lots of people walk past their cars to look at your van though, huh? Lotsa van stuff goin on in the SE states... long ways from here, but I know it's there! Don't be a stranger! Cheers!

Love it, I dont know what it is about a van. Its a part of you once you own one. I hope you do restore it. It will be worth the money time and effort. I will try so hard to pee my wife off just so I get sent to the dog house..... Shhhhhhh Its so I can work on the Van.....lol
