This is a picture of my wife's car. Its 25 years old. That makes it a classic, correct? I realize this is not your typical car to restore but it has sentimental value. I thought I would be the only person restoring a 1980 Citation but on carDomain.com there are several.
Summer 2005
I've put the Citation on the road. When a car in Texas is 25 years old it only has to pass a safety check no smog check. I think it would have passed but now I don't have to worry about that.
I gave my 2000 Pontiac to my daughter to drive and have taken on the wild notion to drive the Citation. So I can truly say she is a daily driver.
Things I've done to make her road worthy at 76,000 miles:
New Alternator
Sand blasted the wheels and painted them
I had to take the dash apart to remove a piece of paper covering the Odometer
Replaced EGR valve
Sand blasted the air cleaner and painted it
Replaced bad head light
Fixed broken head light screws
New plugs and wires
Oil and filter changed
Replaced air filter
Replaced PVC valve
Found a new dip stick to replace broken one
Fixed fuel line leaks
Made the emergency brake work
Had right rear tire's white wall turned inside to match the rest
Sucked out old R-12 and replaced with 134
Glued up the head liner
Replaced Transmission oil, lower gasket, lower filter
Made wire hanger for exhaust pipe
Patched hole in driver's floor pan
New upper and lower radiator hoses
Replaced worn out cat converter with straight pipe
Disconnected EGR valve
New belts, AC, Alt, PS
Replaced the spring on throttle
Tightened screw on carb choke linkage
I've bought new front struts but have not put them on.
I think having one of the rarest cars on the road is Cool no matter what anyone says!
Fall 2005
I'm experiencing transmission problems. I have a bad leak and now it is shifting late into second and third. I have put her on the back burner for now.
