In June of 2005 I was soon to get married and needed a car to get me around so my old lady could have the one I was in. I was pretty poor and was going around to small dealers around town and came across something that was kind of ugly from when I first looked at it from the back from a distance. The car had three different sizes wheels and tires on it, was missing all the mirrors except the passenger side one, and was marked all up with “For Sale”, "Good Deal”, and “Gas Saver” writings on the windows. When I came around closer to the car and toward the front I realized it wasn’t an ugly Ford Probe, but a very mistreated Nissan 240sx hatch model that was in desperate need of some TLC. I bought the car for much more than it was worth at the time and slapped the wheels from my old Nissan Altima on it and took some pictures about two weeks after buying it.
In July of 2005, I was heading to work in Atlanta when I started hearing a knocking sound coming from under the hood. Knowing very little, but enough to know that it wasn’t a good sound, I pulled over. It turned out I threw a rod. The car sounded like a diesel engine trying to stay alive. I had just come down on orders to leave Atlanta for Fort Polk, Louisiana and that had opened up my re-enlistment window. After a little debating I decided why the hell not and did it. In September of 2005 I received my bonus and went straight to the shop that dropped the engine in.
The guy felt bad that he quoted me a time table and didn’t make good on it, so he threw in the Megan Racing Springs for $35 brand new and put those on to.
In January 2006, one month after reporting to Fort Polk, I received word that myself and a few other people were picked to go to Iraq to catch up with the unit that had left that past November. One week before leaving, a group of my friends and I all went to Lake Charles to have our last fling before going to combat. I took all the money I had to my name: $300. We stayed two nights, both I paid for because after the first night I had won $1250 on a nickel slot machine. Wouldn’t ya know it, luck kicks in right before leaving my safe country! The next night I pulled up a seat at the quarter machine and won another $1140 or so. When I got back to post I decided since I was about to leave and get some tax free income for a while, I’d throw on a body kit and have it painted while I was gone. I purchased and had installed the Extreme Dimensions GP-1 full kit for $1000, not too bad a price outside a large post where the local businesses thrive off screwing the soldiers out of their money.
