Here's a picture of my 1993 LE, number 377 of 1500, taken during a drive up Page Mill Road in Palo Alto, CA. I purchased the car in June of 2001 on impluse. I had planned to pick up an older, inexpensive Miata as a second car the following summer. Ideally, it would be a sunburst or a silver, and I didn't want to spend more than about $4k. I started doing my research and stumbled across this car on eBay. Until I found it, I didn't know that the 93 LE existed, so I found Miata.net and quickly realized what a unique car it is. Luckily, the car was about five miles from me, so I went and took a drive. I was pretty high on the car immediately, and though it was way ahead of schedule and way out of my desired budget, I was the proud owner just a couple of days later. It was a total impulse buy, but I've had absolutely no buyer's remorse.
This is my second convertible, my first being a 1976 Fiat Spider that I bought when I was 17. It was a great car, and rarely had any mechanical problems. I think the only time it stranded me was when the starter went out. During one summer I installed a new top and, ironically, changed the interior color from red to black. I'm probably the only person on the block to have owned two convertibles with red interiors. That car was a good learning experience for me and it helped develop my love of roadsters.
