2003 Ford Focus ZX3: 12/31/2002 - 12/09/2004

My dad was going home from work on Dixie Highway on Dec. 9, 2004. It was raining, and he was doing about 40mph, which is the speed limit on Dixie Highway, But there's a reason why people call the place "Dixie Dieway", given all the accidents that occur on that stretch of road. Two cars ahead of my dad, there was a dumbass that took a chance and pulled out in front of a van. That van crashed into the car, which in turn caused a pile-up of a truck hitting the van, and the Focus hitting the truck. My dad was on the brakes, but the ABS didn't help a bit on the slick roads, since the wheels locked up anyway. The front end plowed into the back of the truck at 40mph, an impact great enough to send the cold-air intake filter flying over and bounced off the van. But Focus saftey shone that night; My dad walked away without a scratch. The car was towed away by insurance. My dad only had to pay for the minor damages done on the truck, but for the car, he got back about $11,000. My dad says the accident was partly to blame in the power the modded Zetec put out; It's hard to stay off the throttle at times when you're engine's that peppy. In it's place, he's bought a slower, more practical 2005 Scion xA.
