I first off apologize for the lack of pictures at the moment. The car is being built up little by little. I have all the parts, just have to find the time to put the pieces of the puzzle together. Hopefully that will happen in the coming weeks. The car is built all for SPL right now. The organizations I regularly compete in are dB Drag Racing (member 3 years), IASCA (member 2 years), SLAPshow.com (first year member), and NSPL (first year member). Here is my stat page for dB Drag. I have been to 10 shows this year with this setup. The scores range from a low of 141.2 on Fred Wright Jr.'s NSPL meter to a 147.9 on a SLAPshow Audio Control meter. The goal is still a 150 from the trunk. Hopefully soon.

peteyglad's 1998 Saturn SL-SeriesThis is my Plain Jane Saturn. No fancy interior or exterior modifications. I guess I am just not that kind of guy. The only thing that will happen to the exterior is window tinting later this summer.

peteyglad's 1998 Saturn SL-SeriesNothing fancy under the hood either. Just the basic 1.9 liter engine making 124 pony's. Notice all the yellow pollen. Ah, allergy season is in the air again.

peteyglad's 1998 Saturn SL-SeriesThe battery is also stock. I have added 2 more strands of 4 guage wire for the negative side of the battery to help with current flow. Each strand of 4 guage wire has its own 200 amp circuit breaker by Precision Interface Electronics (P.I.E.). Each 4 guage strand goes to a seperate battery in the trunk. The lone 8 guage wire is used to power the 2 smaller US Amps.

peteyglad's 1998 Saturn SL-SeriesThis is my current trunk setup. The amp is a US Amps USA 800. It is rated at 3000 RMS of underrated power (at 12.4 volts) into 2 ohms bridged while drawing a "measly" 400 amps of current. It is currently wired to 1 ohm bridged. The line driver is an RW Audio LD6.8MS"burp". The extra batteries are visible on the sides of the trunk in this picture also. I have 2 extra NAPA batteries to supply the juice to the USA 800.

peteyglad's 1998 Saturn SL-SeriesHere is a better picture of the line driver. When the system is fully up and running I will have 3 amp running into the LD. A US Amps USA 100 for the rear Infinity 6 1/2's, a US Amps USA 150 for the front Infinity 6 1/2's, and the US Amps USA 800 for the sub. The line driver has a built in subsonic filter set at 35 Hz and has a built in burp button (not shown). The burp button lets me stand outside the vehicle and play my stereo during competitions. The deck is an older Panasonic G-Shock model #DPG625.

peteyglad's 1998 Saturn SL-SeriesThis is the deck outside the car. I wired it up nicely using Monster Cable RCA's and Rampage speaker wire for the power, ground, and remote wires. Now I can honestly say I use Rampage in my setup:) Split loom tubing usually covers the wires. It was removed for the picture.

peteyglad's 1998 Saturn SL-SeriesThis is an old school Cerwin Vega Stroker 15D2. It has dual 2 ohm coils wired in parallel to present a 1 ohm load to the amp. It is rated at 1200 watts RMS and weighs approx. 32 pounds, a lightweight in todays heavy hitters of SPL, but still one of the best. The box is 3 years old and badly needs replacing. It is 3 cubes tuned to 47 Hz. One of my next projects is replaing the box with a bigger and better one.

peteyglad's 1998 Saturn SL-SeriesHere you can see that the Stroker is the "Special Edition" series. All "Special Edition" means is that the sub is dual 2 ohms instead of the usual dual 4 ohms.

peteyglad's 1998 Saturn SL-SeriesAnother picture of the sub. Notice the dual spiders. One below the cone and the ever recognizable one that is integrated in with the cone. Often imitated, never duplicated.

peteyglad's 1998 Saturn SL-SeriesHere is my good old US Amps USA 150. It was bought new in 1999. It is the older model that does not have a crossover built in. It is rated for 75 watts x 2 at 4 ohms.

peteyglad's 1998 Saturn SL-SeriesThis is my US Amps USA 100. This was the first US Amp I ever owned and was bought new in 1999 also. This model does not have the built in crossover either. It provides 50 underrated watts x 2 at 4 ohms stereo.

peteyglad's 1998 Saturn SL-SeriesThis is a US Amps US-X2. It is a 2 channel crossover. Since none of my amps have crossovers I needed a little something to split up the signal. This particular model controls the amp for my rear speakers and the amp for the sub. I will have a component set up front that has a built in crossover so a seperate external crossover will be unnecessary.

peteyglad's 1998 Saturn SL-SeriesThis is a pic of my Infinity Reference 652i coaxials. I also have a pair of these for the rear fill as well. They are mounted in the factory locations for now. There is a layer of Brown Bread sound dampener behind the speakers as well.

peteyglad's 1998 Saturn SL-SeriesThis is the competition team that I am a part of, Team Chap. We are called Team Chap in reference to our main shop, Chap Audio located in Ogdensburg, NY.

peteyglad's 1998 Saturn SL-SeriesMy dream officially came true last year. I was invited to a World Final! Unfortunately after all the competing last year I didn't have enough money to go and compete at Finals. I plan to be back this year! Hopefully in more than one organization.

peteyglad's 1998 Saturn SL-Series

Every year I host a competition in September in Upstate NY. This year it will be held on Sept. 28th in Clayton, NY. There will be 2 events that day. A SLAP dB show will start at 10:00 and the dB Drag will start at 12:30. Both events are sanctioned and will count towards the 2002 Finals for each organization. The cost is $15 for either event or $25 for both. Trophies will be awarded for 1st - 3rd in each class. There will also be a raffle at the end of the day. Here is the link to the Show's page. Thanks for your support.
