GT67sy’s GMC Syclone

    • Currently 4.6/5 Stars.

Well here is my pride and joy. It is a 1991 GMC Syclone, there are only 2989 in the world. I happen to own Syclone #2882 and no thats not the truck with the Grand National motor in. The GMC Syclone has a 4.3 V6 and is turbo charged and AWD from the factory. GMC along with PAS Inc. got together and created this animal you see before you. GMC introduced it to the public in Detroit in the ran to show how well the AWD work and impressed everyone with 0-60 times of 4.6 sec in the rain.

My introduction to a Syclone occured the hard way with a street race. At the time I was driving a Lingenfelter built camaro that was running 12.20's off the bottle and 11.80 with 125 shot on it. I was out at the street races and came upon this older gentleman driving a black pickup and ended up catching a light with him (that was my first mistake) and he destroyed me like I was nothing. I then watched him destroy two CBR 600's from a stop (he wasn't stock by the way). I followed the guy to a light and rolled up next to him and was like what is that and where can I get one. He told me about the truck and was like good luck finding one there are only 3000 in the world. Well that night I went home and started to researh them and was on the hunt with in a week, trying to find one. I finally found the one you see in VA and purchased it on the spot. It had 18,000 miles on it and was kept in a garage and has never been rained on it's life (still true to this day)

The day I brought it home I was ready to make it faster. The next day  an ATR exhaust and ATR Pitbull chip went it in. About two weeks later I took it to the track and was very happy with it's 12.8 performace. But as anyone who is into car knows once youget a taste of little of power you always want more and I defiantely wanted more. So within 6 months I took off the stock 17c turbo and upgraded to Mitsu 20g turbo and turned up the boost. The truck was great but then it happend, I blew apart a manual boost controller and pegged 29psi. Putting a hole in the block, eating a piston and bending a rod.

This is when the real fun begins. We took the motor and once you take it apart why not go bigger and badder. So in went a set of Wisco piston and Eagle H-Beam rods. We sent the upper and lower intakes out to get ported and modified for the new style vortec heads. Ordered a set of Stage 3 Vortecs from McCoy Motorsports. The 20g turbo was not going to be enough so on went a PTE 52. For fuel we upgraded to set of 50# injectors and to control them we got the Ulitmate Chip.
