BLOG PAGE 2
I have moved older Blog info to this page. The first page will contain the more recent entries.
UPDATE (01-23-06): I have decided against the Viper. The goal now is to get a red 1988 Esprit to accompany my current black one. The red Esprit will be stock, the Black one tricked out. The daily driver is to be the 2000 Jaguar XJR.
UPDATE (12-21-05): Got the green light from the wife on the purchase of a Viper. So hopefully sometime within 2006 I will be parking a Blue, yellow, or white Viper next to the Esprit. I am also thinking of picking up a red 88 Esprit Turbo. I would not mind getting into a red 1992-1994 Ferrari 348, but the maintenance expenses have me acting a little shy. The prices have gotten to where I can afford to buy the car, but it would suck getting beat up by the maintenance costs. My Esprit has been a dream in this department, so far. Reliable and very drivable. KNOCK ON WOOD. Let's see what the budget will allow.
UPDATE (12-09-05): Last night I took the Lotus drag racing and beat a Saleen twice as well as various other cars. A lot of suped up drag Mustangs beat me. It was only an 8th mile track and when the car was really starting to scoot, it was time to brake. I would like to do 1/4 miles. Any how I ran a 9.3 1/8 time which is a mid 14's quarter mile. My reaction and 60 foot times are terrible, so if I dialed it in I would be in the high 13's. Today went to Symbolic's breakfast. I was the only Esprit there. Pictures on Page 12.
UPDATE (12-05-05): I went to the HIN VIP car show on Saturday at Anaheim. Alright show. Now that I own an exotic I am not as crazed as I used to be at these shows, especially since most of the people here had an attitude, except for the fellows at Stuttgart Performance, Morgan West and the SoCal Viper club. Check out the pics on Page 9.
Today I also talked to Jared, the PO(Previous Owner) of my Black SE. He had withdrawl symptoms and ended up buying another Esprit. He bought a red S4. I will post a few pics of his car later. This is Jared's fourth or fifth Esprit. I guess when you get bit by the bug, it bites you hard. I personally don't see myself ever NOT having an Esprit in my garage.
UPDATE (11-19-05): Oil change done yesterday and I also put new hardware on my removable roof panel to tighten it up a bit. Today I also put on SPAX fully adjustable Krypton gas rear shocks. I will drive it around tomorrow and post pics and feedback on it in a few days. Why this mod? The right rear shock was leaking and just about died. The back end started to get slightly bouncy to ANNOYINGLY so. So I e-mailed Jay at JAE and ordered the shocks and some more oil filters, all of which got here the next morning. Man I really like these guys. They get my stuff out to me at 4PM so I get have it less than 24 hours later.
UPDATE (11-09-05): I put the glass canopy back on the rear hatch yesterday. (or better put, I had the glass shop who took it off put it back on.) Why? Well I wasn't convinced on the planned custom mod I wanted to do, so I have decided to just order factory parts and have the body work on the hatch done so that it will look like a mix of a 93.5 SE and an anniversary edition Esprit. The problem is that I am looking at around $1,000 in this "upgrade". For $1200 I can do more things, namely chrome my wheels, put on my exhaust and get a Sport 300 lip spoiler. So for the same money I can do 3 exterior mods instead of 1. Also, I am going to be taking a 5 day "get-away" with the Mrs. next month and am planning on driving the Lotus. We may encounter some wet weather, so I'd rather have the engine completely covered. I figure I will finish this mod/rear hatch conversion in the spring for my 1st anniversary with the Esprit. Yesterday I also finally yanked the Lotus plate and DMV sticker (whcih expired 10-31-05) and put on my custom rear vanity plate. It's nice, but not as nice as the Lotus plate.
UPDATE (10-28-05): My car hit 58,000 miles yesterday on my way to pick up my nephew from school. As usual the high school kids were in awe and my nephew is a popular kid now because he goes home from swim practice in a Lotus. Interestingly enough, a lot of kids at the HS know what kind of car this is. (Must be the Gran Turismo phenomenon.) I added pics taken during my trip to visit my parents in San Diego, better pics of the Esprit without the rear glass, pics of 3 Esprits owned by Yahoo! Group member Phil M., pics of Roy's Anniversary Edition Esprit and I have started work on a links page. WHEW!
UPDATE (10-19-05): Still have not had the time to have the new Flowmaster exhaust installed. But I finally did snap photos of the car without the rear glass today while I was out running..um...errands. (See picture.) I also got my personalized CA plates, but am waiting until my sticker runs out to put them on. I like the Lotus plate on the rear and am going to milk it for the next 12 days.
Just added a European Great Brittian plate. It really makes the car look right. I put a yellow LOTUS plate on the back and though I have my CA plates, I took them off and put the sticker back on the rear hatch glass so I can drive with these much cooler plates. My sticker expires 10-31-05, so I hope I have my personalized CA plates by then.
The car is back from Viking as of a couple weeks ago. Harry did not finish everything due to his trip to England and to LOG 25. He did convert and recharge the A/C, so driving around is really nice now. Still does not blow as cold as I'd like, so he is going to check it out again soon. He will do that, install my turbo timer, and put in my #5 chip. And a BOV as well I guess. But first my new Dual Maganflows will go on the car.
UPDATE (8-2-05):Car is being picked up from Harry at Viking Motorsports tomorrow. It did not pass CA smog, so I will be working on that while Harry is in England. At least I will have cold A/C, a working speedometer and my Apex'i turbo timer installed when I get her back tomorrow. I will be putting in a Random Cat and the Magnaflows on this week as well. I'll do the #5 Chip once I pass smog and Harry gets back. I will mess with a few things, but electical bits isn't one of them. I will however, be putting on the Lotus Valve stem caps and clear corner indicators I have sitting here. More pix to be posted soon as well. =)
I have another set of stock wheels coming which I am going to chrome. I have a front lip spoiler which I will install this week and a #5 and #6 chip which I am going to have Harry at Viking Motorsports in Costa Mesa install for me. This page will be updated as soon as I can. (6-22-05)
