August-05-05
Dropped the ED4 and trans out of the '79 Civic.
Note to self: get an engine hoist you cheap bastard.
Next on list is to drop the D16Z6.
Also find a new front cross-member for the '79.. a little rusty.
July-10-05
Gutted the interior of the '93, completely dismantled the dash and everything under it. Labled everything on the harness and have it ready to be pulled out the firewall. MAN thats alot of wires. There where like 5 different wiring looms. A/C, more A/C, Sunroof, Main engine loop + passengers side stuff (the one I need), Secondary driver's side loom (o2 sensor and a few other things) and finally the rear loom (everything in the back + fuel pump I think)
Man, that was tons and tons of wires... but I think I have everything I need to run the engine separate from the car's systems. Now I can pull the A/C stuff, the radiator, disconnect the pedals and then the motor mounts. Then the motor should be good to transplant!
July-9-05
- Took apart the front end and disconnected everything from the '79.
-Took apart the front end of the '93.
1st Gen Honda, Old Skool Retro Project

This is my 1979 Honda Civic CVCC Wagon. (mine is white, minus the luggage rack on top) 4 on the floor old skool Honda. I bought it for $300, did a tune up, now I drive it. You can say I got a freaking good deal since everything works. Just needed alot of WD-40, alot of soap/water and a little air. Oh and some TLC, which I have... and I'll need it too for my PrOjEcT.
ED4 CVCC 1.5l engine, 64K (original?) runs damn good. Hell, even the hand-break works.
Ok, so I have this Old Skool Honda which, amazingly runs like a top. It basicly has no rust, it looks good, everything works... but what then? To be fair, I didn't even think the thing ran, let alone be in this good shape. So I was cruising on EBAY, clicking on random stuff when I come across this...

1993 Honda Civic EX 2-Door coup. D16Z6 1.6L SOHC VTEC.
Got this car, with an extra set of brand-new rims, a set of NICE black-out rims (on the car) new cabon-fiber F and B bumpers, new radiator, new clutch, 70K on a replaced engine, numerous hop-ups, intake and other crap... basicly it was a ricer's car. A woman ricer's car. A woman ricer's car that got rear-ended and salvaged out by her insurence company, which means I bought everything for $930. BLING BLING
Runs/drives like a new car, just the trunk lid and R bumper are broke. Hell, with a few extra $$ I could have the title rebuilt and be on the road easy.... but not me. Oh no, that would be too easy.
1979 Honda Civic CVCC + 1993 Honda Civic EX VTEC =
( please excuse the cheesy photoshop )
So yah, all 4 wheel assymb. conversion (for the 4x100 lug rims and newer break system), lower and tigten the suspension, swap in the D16Z6 VTEC engine and 5-speed trans, weld the rear doors shut and fill in, yellow-out the rear windows and put plastic cover over them (its a wagon so it has 2 rear windows).
I saved so much money getting these cars so cheap and in such good condition, I'm thinking of getting a "Single Slam" bolt-on turbo kit. With a quick $20 chip of the computer, I can run 6-8psi on stock everything. Should get this sled down to the 13s or 12s... respectable for a 26 year old car. (which will have "antique" or "classic" plates btw)
Now all of this is good and fine, but since its a wagon, and I AM doing alot of work on it... might as well get the monster stereo in it too. I have 2 15" 1000watt ElectroVoice subs that I've been meaning to have re-coned for a long, long time. For those in the know, ElectroVoice = old Skool speakers. Old Skool speakers are made to last and these are no acception. They weigh a TON and look mean as hell. I have a bunch of car audio equipment left over from my Black 1988 MR2 I wrecked **check out my "friends" list, thats my other cars** so I might as well use it all.
Well enough dreaming, hopefully this Thursday (June 21st, 2005) I'll be towing my 1993 Civic EX from VA to here so I can get started... I'll take some pics and let you all know whats up!
