mdmbkr's 1993 Mazda Miata

My 93LE with tonneau cover fitted.

Current Mileage: 158,000 (April 2005)

Modifications:

o Fidanza aluminum flywheel with PBC performance clutch - installed by Performance Buyers Club in VA
o Super-sticky Falken Azenis Asymmetrical 195/60R14's
o Disconnected annoying buzzer
o Removed front license plate
o Upgraded headlamps to Sylvania Xtravision
o Adrenaline Racing street performance brake package - includes Axxis Ultimate pads - I like these much better than the EBC Greens I had before
o Knobmeister polished Voodoo magnum shift knob with Eveready cat engraving
o Removed all heatshields in exhaust system - this only saves a few lbs, but a lot of rattles.

Maintenance stuff:

o Replaced front-end suspension bushings
o Got Bilstein's rebuilt and reinstalled, they're great
o Also replaced shock boot/bumpstops at all four corners
o Replaced the alignment cams at all four corners with new, revised cams that supposedly will hold alignment better

Mods in progress:

o Removing complete airbag system and replacing steering wheel with a nice Momo

Future mods:

o RX-7 airflow meter
o Cold air intake (pref. Randall)
o OBX header
o OBX stainless catback
o Thorough bracing of the chassis
o Vented cover for amp in trunk

Current fixable problems:

o Clutch need(ed) replacement - my hypothesis is that the clutch is oil-soaked due to a leaking rear main seal, which explains why it doesn't grip well, and where the oil is going

Update: it turns out the clutch was just completely worn out! The rear main wasn't leaking seriously, but the transmission input shaft seal was toast. All better now! Thanks PBC!

o A/C busted - due to leaks
o 10,000 rattles - time to rebuild the dash
o Power antenna unreliable
o Droopy eyeball vents
o Timing belt idler pulleys really noisy, need replacement (belt is due at 170k)
o Exhaust manifold has leak near collector, needs to be replaced

Unfixable (?) problems:

o Some of the red plastic is getting brittle and starting to crack. This stuff is gonna be hard to find.
o The red boot cover that came with the car is missing. Have seen people asking as much as $750 for these!
o There is a slight bend in one of the BBS wheels. :-(
