This page is to show off my stereo system. I have been into this sort of thing since 1990. I'ved seen a lot of styles and trends come and go over the years. I remember when the top of the line systems in the magazines consisted of mid's and high's placed all over the interior and they used "trunk" and auto style carpet covering for thier "build-out" panels. Yuk! The magazines would say something like.."With thirty-two speakers placed through out the the interior, the car images and stages very well." Now we are down to no more than a few speakers in the kicks and doors.( or wherever you decide to put them) and howerver many subs your heart desires. The high end install includes vinyl or painted fiberglass panels or a combination of both.
This is what I have done to my truck so far...............................
I wanted to compete in USACi's Amature 301-600 watt SQ power class this year and have more than enough subs to stand out in a crowd, both by ear and sight. I didn't want a "wall" because my truck is an everyday driver and I needed to have rear vision.
This is my enclosure, I built it as a sealed type with 1.4 cubic feet per chamber for my subs to play in. I know its not a ported box, but my original design was a sound quality system. Plus I really love the sound of these things! I am putting Kicker XPL Twelves in there.........
Its made of 3/4 MDF, screwed every three inches with 1 1/4" drywall screws.Divided for each sub.
I had to have some way for my enclosure to be mounted in my truck, so I built this base to hold it up and level. It looks tacky sitting in there like that but I'm not finished yet!
In order to have a place for my amps to call home and make everything look built-in this is what I came up with. I use 1/2 MDF and jointed the top and front piece together as one. It flows very well together and follows the lines and curves of my interior.

After making a home for the amps I didn't have a place to put my Capacitor or fuseblock....This is what I came up with.
A sound quality vehicle was my first choice and I had these EQT equalizers laying around, these is where I put them. I used factory matched vinyl to trim it.If you notice my box trim panels are covered also!
Here is a picture of my box trim panels again. Its dark outside...but you can get an idea of what it looks like.
I got it all installed, it gets pretty loud ! I figure it hits in the mid 146 db's
According to USACi's rules, all speakers in the vehicle must have grille protection. I didn't want to do it, but I made a grille to cover my subwoofers.

Now on to the components in my system..................
This is my head unit...Clarion DXZ615. It has all the features I was looking for, remote control, TV capability, 4 volt pre-outs,cd text capability. It is loaded for the price I gave for it.
The amps I am using are made by Kicker. I have a ZR120, ZR240, and a ZR360. I am using plug-in crossover modules and a remote gain controller for my subs.I have links installed to make them appear as one big a$$ amplifier.
I have q-form kickpanels loaded with a Kicker Impulse 15.2 component set and a pair of Resolution R6 in my doors for mid-bass.
My Subwoofers
My battery display...Optima battery. All my wiring and connectors are made by Stinger.
Here are misc wiring pics.
My radio wiring
another picture, notice the backstrap behind the radio? If your radio is skipping really badly make sure have supported the rear or you radio correctly.
I ran all my power,Rca,and speaker wire away from each other, this insures that I don't get any electrical interference (noise) induced into my sound system.I duct taped them down so they don't move when my carpet is reinstalled.
What a mess! I made sure every wire was properly protected and tied off. This was hidden by my trim panels.
Well I hope you enjoyed what I have so far..... The next page is pictures of my sound damping.
