praxis_unlimited's 1962 Plymouth Belvedere

I bought this car on ebay for $500. It had not been cut-on for over a decade regardless I rode-out to Witchita, Kansas with my buddy T-bury who was going back to school in Kansas. When we got to the car it would run in neutral but not when we put it in gear. I decided it was the accelerator pump we drove a block to PePBoys and rebuilt the carb in the parking lot. Within minutes it was on the road. It ran fine, all the lights still worked along with all the guages. We drove it two hours to T-bury's place where I changed the fluids and gave it a general tune-up. The next day I drove it for 15 hours to my home in Lexington, Kentucky. At an avg 75mph it got 28mpg!

Once At my Kentucky Home I gave it a through inspection and replaced some parts;
New master cylinder $35
New wheel cylinders $13 each
New shocks $11 each

Checked the cylinder pressures and they were 100psi with an exeption on cylinder 6 of 80psi. That was too low for me so I started [driving my girlfriend crazy with the car nonsense and couldn't do anything but say sorry Kim, Cotton is my new love so step back and recognize... she went home crying. THE END.]sorry that was my girlfriend... Anyways I started to rebuild the engine.

I ported and polished the head and milled the head .070" and the rest is pretty much standard on the rebuild. The compression has theoreticaly been raised to 9.2:1 and it still runs on 87 octane without pinging. The cluch was also rebuilt and the pressure plate was upgraded to 2000lb from 1500lb(grabs nice)
