Today I had some spare time so I decided I would run the ground wire.

We need to find the best ground source for our wire. This is normally the chassis. At first I thought I was going to have to drill a hole in the floor of the trunk but I looked around and it paid off. There was already a grommet leading to the outside of the trunk. I will use this to run my wire.

Wrap some tape around the 4ga wire to a leader wire so we can pull it through with ease.

After the wire is through put a silicone sealer around the wire at the grommet to prevent water or dirt from getting into the car.

Now to drill a pilot hole where we will bolt the connector to the chassis.

Let's go ahead and prep the surface now. I use a coarse sandpaper. If you wear rings make sure to take them off or you will end up sanding them also.

A nice clean surface.

We will now bolt the connector to the chassis.

And for rust protection we need to coat the bare metal. I use a rust preventive paint.

End.
