THIS PAGE DEDICATED TO THE MACH 5!!! May she rest in peace..... but is the world ready for Version 5.1??These are some of the Badass V-Dubs that my friends and cohorts drive.....This is the Mach 5.1!! I finally got some pics of it, and here she is, sitting in front ElectroImpact, the comany that Ben now works for. Last summer Benny was in a tragic accident and had his car totalled for him after he drove all the way out to MT for a VW cruise. It seems that a drunk Russian kid decided that he didn't need to stop for that stop sign and totalled Ben's 92 Golf/GTi (known as the Mach 5) for him. Too bad, as the Mach 5 was one of the best looking MK2 5 doors that I had seen! Well many months later,(and many calls to insurance agents) he found a replacement, a 1996 GTi VR6 that was a single owner car and had only 24,000mi. on it! Needless to say, he was quite pleased. As for mods, he has started out with a modest approach, and as of now, has an H&R cup kit, and (salvaged from from the mach 5)MOMO knob and boot, Hella twin air horns, and an Alpine headunit. Stay tuned, as he has about a $20,000 parts list for it..........This is Vinny's 91 GTi G60. It started life as a mild mannered 8v, but after 150,000k on the clock, it was time for a swap. What better to transplant than the venerable G60? Vinny had the swap done by Metric Methods near Denver CO. The Motor is a stock G60 from a '92 Corrado, but he plans to start upgrading it in the spring. His car also sports a badgeless grille, upper and lower grillespoilers, dual 7" round smoked headlights w/ city lights, HOR tech springs, 15" TSW Stealths, Clear taillights, rear fog light, a DIY single wiper, front and rear stressbars, Autotech slotted and cross-drilled rotors, Autotech SS brake lines, custom made DTM splitter w/winglets, K&N panel filter, Blue Igniters, custom exhaust, and more. Here is another shot of Vinny's GTi G60.Phil Drives a '97 GTi 8v. He is lowered on Eibach springs, and runs 17" TSWs, Toyo T1-S tires, a Neuspeed P-Flow connected to an ABD Big Bore intake, Neuspeed Plug Wires, Autotech Chip and a Thermal Design Exhaust with dual DTMs. He also has an Autotech Short shifter, and an ABD Upper front stress bar. Neuspeed Billet Oil, Water and Power Steering caps dress up the engine bay. For lighting he has Hella Dual Round headlights (not pictured) a smoked In.Pro front indicator set and Hella smoked bumper lights. Recently he has also added Kamei Air ducts to round out the exterior. Protecting the entire package is a DEI Sidewinder 5000 alarm system. These are a few more of the 'Wagons out here in Montana. All of the VW generations are present here. The MK1 GTi is Gary's, the MK2 GTi is Christian's, the MK3 jetta is mine, and the MK4 Jetta is Tony's. These are just a few of the 8 or so VWs that we got together of a saturday highway cruise this summer. Another shot of us cruising. It was a blast with so many VWs done up and flying down the highway....P.S. Phil and his girlfriend Keely (drives a cabrio) went to the NOPI Nationals in Atlanta, and he said that they had a great time, but that there was a lack of VWs there, and it seemed like a Honda show. So lets get as many Dubs there as we can next year, people! This is Gary's '84 MK 1 GTi. He is lowered on an H&R cup kit like mine, sits on 17" MOMO GT2's in grey, has a Tectonics Tuning Exhaust, and an Audi throttle body, Diamond H4 headlight conversions, PIAA H4 bulbs, PIAA foglights and more...You can also see the rest of us in the background if you enlarge the picure..
