My "Let There Be Bass Project"As we all know, the one thing that our beautiful 7's missing is a good bottom (Bass that is). I decided to give this a shot since BMW makes it fairly easy for this upgrade because the battery and the factory amp are accessible in the trunk. For the amp curtain wall, I started with a 2' x 4' piece of 5/8" plywood and used various 1" x 2" hardwood strips for extra support. The cutouts shown are for the amps and a digital fuse block. >>>>>Finished bandpass box with the subs and "Purple" Neon light I installed behind a plexiglass window. Also pictured is the finished carpeted amp curtain wall, ready for my installation in trunk. >>>>>I had to build a small angled shelf to place the Bandpass box on to clear the TV Tuner and wiring. This slight angle also provided a better fit of the box to the armrest opening when viewed from inside the car. RCA "Home Theater HP" 12 AWG speaker wire was used from amps to bandpass box. RCA "Home Theater HP" 16 AWG speaker wire was used to connect the Kenwood amps to two (2) of the four (4) factory subwoofer "high level" speaker outputs. >>>>>Did I mention that I was a "happy camper" at this point?View of subs from the cabin during daytime. >>>>>OK Michael, you can stop smiling now, Michael..., Michael...SPECIAL NOTE: The plexiglass panel on the bandpass box has been subsequently removed and installed some fiberfill in the ports. RESULT: No more "boom, boom, boom" bass, just clean, tight and very hard-hitting bass...(will update pictures eventually)Page One (1) - The Millennium EditionPage Two (2) - Crystal Clear Lights and Other StuffPage Three (3) - The Mobile Video StuffPage Four (4) - My "Let There be Bass" ProjectPage Five (5) - Hard Decisions - My Lex Coupe or My BimmerPage Six (6) - The Millennium Before Upgrades PhotosPage Seven (7) - The Just Random Other Stuff PagePage Eight (8) - The Suspension Upgrade Stuff PagePage Nine (9) - The Eisenmann Exhaust Stuff PagePage Ten (10) - The Girls of Import Eurasia - Somerset, NJ PagePage Eleven (11) - The E38 mini-meet and Cars of Import Eurasia - Somerset, NJ PagePage Twelve (12) - The Nor'easter 7s Meet at La Stallas PageI hope you enjoy these pages as much as I enjoy this car.
