My system! My pride and joy! Im always wishing it was better, but when Im listening to:

Tempes_Link_Page's 1998 Ford Ranger

It makes me quite happy!

Honestly I have been listening to a lot of the Live CD from Alison Krauss and Union Station. It is a wonderful live album. Yeah it might not have the walloping basslines like Lil John or the screaming guitars of Pantera, but it is truly an enjoyable album to listen to. You feel like you are right there in the audience.

This is what is in the truck now:

CD Player: Kenwood KDC-S3009 (seven years old)
EQ: Kenwood KGC-4042A (also seven years old,)
Crossover: Memphis 16-CX35
Front Speaker Amp: Power Acoustik 4DS*600 4 Channel
Sub Amp: Hifonics BX1500D
Front: Resonant Engineering RE 6.5 component speakers
Sub: Resonant Engineering HC 15 in a 4.0 cube enclosure tuned to 30 hz with 49.5 of port area

This is the manufacturers original picture of my head unit. It is considered SUPER-BORING by both todays AND Janes standards!

FINALLY!!! I have some good pix of my head unit and equalizer!

Another pic... same thing... different angle...

This is an image of the drivers side door. Installed is the Resonant Engineering RE 6.5 component speakers. This picture is not the greatest, but you can sort of see the cross-firing pattern I have with the tweeters. This tweeter is aimed at the passengers head. The midwoofer is mounted in the modified and partially deadened stock location.

This shows the passenger side door. This tweeter is aimed at the drivers head. The idea behind the tweeter installation is to equalize to some degree the perceived pathlength differences. Also I should note that the off-axis response of the midwoofer drivers is wonderful! The very tall dustcaps serve somewhat as phase-plugs. While listening to the IASCA 2001 CD voices sound like they are coming from right in front of me!

This was the temporary enclosure positioning for my Resonant Engineering HC 15 subwoofer. It is powered by my Hifonics BX1500D amplifier. By the way my buddy spkrman benched this amp to do something like 650 watts at 2.7 ohms, although it was running a 1 ohm nominal load. The enclosure is 4.0 cubes tuned to 30 hz with 49.5 of port area. For the test I burped full volume at 30 hz. I would of course get the lowest impedance at the Fb. I think I did 140.0 dB MECA-style on the Termlab sensor.

I moved the enclosure this way to get a great deal more room to recline my front seats. Actually my SPL score went up! MECA-style I have done a 142.9. I built and positioned the enclosure for daily-driving. My head is at the drivers side headrest. To get an accurate measurement I did a 30 hz burp with the mic at the headrest. That is my burp note for this system. I do not get louder at higher frequencies. Here is the result:

I know I got at least 2 dB left in that box. My power wiring needs to be upgraded. I would like to ground directly to the frame to see if that helps. I can do some tricks inside the enclosure to get things louder. I also have something else planned for the cab corner where the port fires into. We will see once I get some time to do all of this!
