Nike's headlight info:
1997 Miata, leather pkg. Hella E-codes.
Note Hella MicoDE fog lights (55 w each) are wired to go on with running lights, hence are on when hi or lo beams are on.
After running the supplied Hella 60/55 bulbs for about 2 months, I swapped to Wagner 100/80 bulbs, which I ran for two years before swapping to Hella 100/80 bulbs. Before that last swap, I did the test documented here; I do not yet have data for the new hella 100/80 bulbs.
Following voltages measured at bulb terminals.
Engine idling.
With 2-month used Hella 60/55 bulb in left, and no bulb in right: lo 13.86v, hi 13.68v
With 2-year used Wagner 100/80bulb in right, no bulb in left: lo 13.44v, hi 13.19v
Both with Hella 60/55w:
R: lo 13.13v, hi 13.02v
L: lo 13.16v, hi 13.05v
Both with Wagner 100/80w:
R: lo 12.72v, hi 12.53v
L: lo 12.82v, hi 12.46v
Roughly a half volt drop all around.
Swapped to Wagner 100/80 because I figured they would be brighter. They were, so I kept them.
Recently noticed some degredation, principally in diffusion of hi beam - resulting in hi beam optical axis being too high. Examination of bulb showed delamination of coating on bulb tip.
Switched to Osram bulbs.
