This is the project.

This is the before shot, the project car, 9 weeks into development. Yes under all the dust is a 2000 Volkswagen Jetta.

This is the after shot. Any difference?
The System

This is the 9.2 cubic foot box needed to break the record, states the head engineer of Fujitsu Ten at Eclipse. It is built in 2 pieces to fit in the trunk of the car. Two 15" long ports are built on each side for maximum spl.

This is the top portion of the box. The brace built in the middle is needed for support to handle the 40lb subs.

This is the first loading of the box in the trunk of the car to see if everything fits okay. So far so good. Believe me its not an accident that it fits so well. Every angle and measurment is carefully considered to make this thing fit as well as it does. The bottom portion had to be loaded from the back doors and the top portion through the openning of the trunk. Once both pieces are in for the final time they will be bolted together to make one 9.2 cubic foot box. BOOM!!!

This is the master mind himself Joel Saltz from Tweeter. He is sanding down the first amp rack that fits the Xtant 604x amp. The rack is made of fiberglass and MDF board. It is carefully constructed and shaped to fit on the back of the box. In the back is a picture of my baby.

Here is another profile of the 9.2 cubic foot box with the custom built amp rack as seen from the previous picture. Embeded in the amp rack is an Xtant 604x amp used to power the mids and tweets. A grill is placed on either side of the rack to allow air to push through the amp from its fans.

This is the finished product of the amp rack, wrapped in grey carpet to match the trunk interior.

And here is roughly what is is going to look like in the trunk. Granted it will look a lot cleaner once the suroundings are covered and it looks like it belongs in place. The rack rests in what appears to be the back end of a jetta, but who can tell with all the dust on it. :-)

This is where it gets crazy. A window guy had to come out to remove the back window in order for the subs to fit into their placement, (the rear deck.) This was the only way it would work. However now it is easier to make a fiberglass mold over the rear deck to make everything flush. The tops of the subs will be shown from the inside of the car.

Here is the new rear deck of the car. Fiberglass was poored over the existing deck to make a perfect match for the new stronger deck to fit exactly like the factory one. Only this one can support 40lb subs and has ports.
