HOT AIR FROM VENT PROBLEM SOLVED!!!
The problem is that the cowl gasket is too thin and does not block the hot air from the engine compartment. This hot air is sucked right into the cowl and thus into your vent system.
I made the gasket fatter by inserting 1/2" foam insulation rope from Lowes into the hollow gasket space. You will have to remove the gasket to insert the foam. I'm still mad at Mazda for failing to see such a simple fix and making us stuggle with a solution! JD
This shows the gasket after being installed a month. Notice how it has been deformed to make a perfect seal.
