My Story
I was fine with my stock system until I really got into MP3s. I didn't have a stock tape deck so I counldn't get a car kit to hook up my MP3 players, so I decided to go get a new deck that would play them directly.

I chose the Sony deck cause it kinda matched my interior. It's a pretty good deck, but it does skip quite a bit in my dropped ride. It also lacks the ability to display long MP3 names or ID3 tags, yet it will display long CDTEXT titles.. Go figure.
After the deck, I decided to get matching speakers. Unfortunately, I chose coaxial being a newbie to audio. The front door highs brought the sound stage way too low. My friend suggested getting some good tweeters for the dash to bring things up a bit. Here I went with a MB Quart set. Work pretty well for the most part.
I decided to amp and eq my main speakers by getting a 4 channel sony deal. With this I was able to get rid of the lows the speakers didn't handle well and drop the highs to give more focus to the MB Quart Tweeters. Ah.. now the staging was good. I mounted it in back of the seats on a MDF wall covered with vinyl. I made space for my future amp on the left.

Now to the bass. I just got some 10" Rockfords and a R/T medium box. It kicks fairly good with my loaner amp, but it goes into protection mode way too often. Figures.. I need more that 300w max to power a 400W RMS sub system. I ordered a Sony XM-3001SXD amp for more power (600w RMS at 2-Ohm). I Chose not to do a show install for the box so I could remove it if more trunk space is necessary.
