Okay so here is the next interior "Makeover" :) project. Back in 1996 when my car was rolling off the lot to be shipped to the USA, there were some Limited Edition Roadsters being produced in Japan, and never available in the USA.
And here it is, my one of my favorite interior setups, the 1996 EUNOS ROADSTER "R2-LIMITED" they only made 500 of these in Japan, truely a rare find, it must be my Miata's destiny, hehehe!! This was made the same year as my Miata too, however in Japan it came with the RED Interior, the same interior found only on the 1993 Limited Edition Miata Stateside.

Here is a picture of the Brochure i found on the web. My next plan for this car will be to located that brochure, and then convert my entire interior to look very similar to this, however mine will have some nice bonus add-ons the even the R2 did not have!!
Here is a picture of an authentic R2-LIMITED from Japan, this is a nice shot of the interior, this R2-LIMITED was found for sale on a Japanese Car dealerships website while i was surfing the internet, they had an RS-Limited for sale, and a M2-1001 Roadster for sale too!!! Drool....
Notice the dash is the same style as the 1.6L 1990-1993 Miata here in America. That is because in Japan they never had the passenger side airbag. They used this same Dash all the way from 1989-1997. As a bonus to me, i will be shaving some weight off the car by converting my 96 to a 93 spec dash, more info on the weight savings later.
He are my 1993 LE Speaker Kick Plates Still minty fresh in the box, just waiting for the chance to install these. They are very hard to get these days, i just got lucky!!! They had them @ http://www.finishlineperformance.com
Update...... I have secured a COMPLETE interior from a wreaked, but low mileage 1993 Limited Edition Black w/Red interior Miata for sale. Thanks to my good Friend the "Toolman" Tim Allen in my local Miata club, we will be able to complete this makeover. If everthing works out, this dream WILL become a reality very soon!!!!!!! :)
Here are the door panels, i used the brand new in the box 93LE Tear Drop Speaker Plates i had in storage for 2 years now. Man they look sweet, and my friend Jeff Helms has offered to power clean the Red Carpeting for me to bring the color back. Now i just need to start taking apart my dash!!

Here is the 1996 dash, not that bad of an dismantle, however i noticed the wiring harness is much different from the 1993, so i will have to attach my 1996 harness to the 1993 dash before i reinstall this dash on my car.
Here is my car being gutted and stripped of some weight, hehehee (the '96 Stock Dash with airbag is 34-Lbs) I'm sure the '93 dash im replacing it with will weight less, and it will looks much better too! Time to get back to work, more updates to follow!
Here is a picture of the Steering Column Plate i removed, this is part of the airbag safety, i have since removed this after adding my Mazdaspeed Steering wheel. Taking this out will actually raise your steering wheel up about 1/4" inch, and also take off 1Lb off your car.

Here is the dash from the wrecked 1993LE Miata, (This dash weighs 23-lbs) i got this from my friend Tim Allen, i really cannot thank him enough, he is truely a great person.
(THANK YOU TIM) He has helped do most installation work on the car as well as supply the parts from the wrecked 1993 LE Black & Red he parted out. Now that i have both dashes out, its time to drill out the factory VIN plates and rivet them back to the opposite dash. Then hook up the 1996 wiring harness to the 1993 dash. :)
Here are the Floor Mats, still brand new in the box too, wow, how rare is that!
Well i sold my other White Mazdaspeed Horn Cap and got a RED Mazdaspeed Horn button to continue on with the whole Red/Black theme. This will look great once its all together. Also got one for my friend Tim, and Stacy! :)

WOW im almost done!! This was ALOT of hard work, but worth every penny and ounce of sweat put into the project. I also got OEM power windows, OEM Tweeters, & Deleteed Passenger Side airbag as an upgrade with this setup, and Tim helped me out with a ton of other things to get the car exactly how i wanted it. So now my R2-Limited conversion is almost fully operational!! I think the only other person in the USA that has done a complete R2-Limited style conversion is Hector @ R-Speed. hehhehe See you at the next R-Speed open house Hector!! :)
Here is my MAZDA OEM 6-Disc Radio/CD Got a good deal from Cody in my club, thanks man!! Tim the Toolman is gonna help me hook up the with the tweeters, and later we will change the bulbs out to red to match the Red backlit gauges i get from Art Works Dewa.
While im awating some more parts to arrive from Japan, im now debating which tow hooks to use? The Nielex/1028 Version or the Okuyama/Mazdaspeed units? I like how the red accents my interior, but then so does the billet aluminum versions from Nielex? Please help me decide.

NIELEX 1028 style Version (ALUMINUM)

Okuyama/Mazdaspeed Version (RED)
Here are the Nakamae Type-R Seats, very nice looking, i ordered these from Nakamae with the help of Joe @ Rspeed, thanks dude!! hehee, and my Black Leather Mazdaspeed Sport Seats are now in my friends Miata... "JDM James" with his sickly slammed Turbo Powered Garage Vary Sporting NB Roadster! The seats look right at home in his ride. :)
BTW, my interior is almost complete, just waiting for some more parts from Japan. :) You can see more of Nakamae's cool Miata goodies online here. http://www.NAKAMAE.co.jp
Update time!! Looky Looky, the Nakamae Doors and the Nakamae Door Pull Straps have arrived from Japan. Special Thanks goes to Rspeed for making a special order for me on these sweet items. After inspecting the Nakamae doors, i found out that i would have to modify them to accept the teardrop speaker kick plates from the 93LE Miatas. Not an easy task, but still doable. Yes i know, brand new Nakamae parts and im already making mods to them!! hahaha im crazy like that. The top one has been modified to accept the 93LE speaker kick plate, and the bottom one is how they came from Japan. Looks much better with the kick plates eh?
Here is a close up of the Nakamae Leather Shift boot, and Leather Pull Straps for the doors, im still waiting for the E-Brake Boot from Japan.

Here is another great item "Made in Japan", its a Hod-Rod rear view mirror, very cool looking, i think it will accent the interior perfectly. This style attaches to the windshield. Lucky for me Mazda started attaching them to the windshield during the 1996 Miatas production year. :) So it will just slide right into place.
Just got these from Japan, the ArtWorks Dewa Gauges, notice the speedo reads 160mph, and both the tach, and speedo start at the 6-O'clock position!! Next i will have to set the gauges, and install the needle caps from AWD and then the KG-Works instument panel to finish the look.

Here are the AWD Needle Caps, very nice quality, this pic really does no justice, you really have to see them in person to see how nice they really look.
Here is the new shifter, brake grip, and brake grip button by RS-FACTORY STAGE of Japan, very sweet, modeled ofter the M2 Roadsters.

Continuing with the Classic Retro theme i have added these sweet M2-1001 styled mirrors by Runabout. Domo Arigato to my friend Makoto for sending these over to me from Japan! Now my Miata will start to look more like an M2-1001 Roadster.
Here is a picture of the New Mazda 6-Disc CD-Player installed, and also the Barchetta Short Console Kit. I will be selling this on ebay later and getting the Nakamae Kit to replace it with.

Yahoo, they seats have arrived from Japan!!! These were hand made by Nakamae-san in Japan, took about 6 months to get them, but they are WORTH THE WAIT!!! THESE ARE AWESOME!!! Super high quality!!!
Seats are installed, just need to get some minor interior trim peices sorted out and im all done.
okay the Dewa-san gauges and needle caps are installed!! She is ready to roll!!!

Just got these sweet metal door parts from AeroDramatics, wow what a difference, here is a before and after shot!! I found them on ebay for much cheaper than anywhere else, and they came right from Aerodramtics. You can see more of Nathan's cool Miata goodies online here.
http://www.aerodramatics.com/
Here they are install, man these look and feel great!! A worthly upgrade, makes the car feel much more classic!
Here is a shot of the Nakamae Centerless Console with RS-Factory Stage Weighted Shift Knob and matching E-Brake and button. Looks just like the original equipment from an M2-1001 Cafe Roadster.

Looky looky, Garage Hundred-One was parting out this super rare M2-1001 Roadster, and guess where there steering wheel is going!!! Yahoo, talk about rare!! There was only 300 of these cars produced in Japan!! And to find a Steering wheel so minty fresh more than 15 years later, wow, how awesome!!!!!
Its here!! its here!!!! WOW, so sweet too!! Here is a close up of the Horn Button, just in case you thought i was joking, hehhehehe.

Here is another revised shot of the interior, with the shiny M2-1001 Cafe Roadster Steering Wheel installed, yummmmmy!!
And now i must retire the Mazdaspeed D-Cut, she is now looking for a new home. But not with the usual run of the mill Miata, she needs to be with a special Miata, as she is one sexy wheel.

Here is a picture of the Art-Works Dewa Cigarette Lighter Ring, i also had the JDM PiVot Starter Button in RED so it came out alot nicer than i thought.
Updated picture of my Mazdaspeed Foot Pedals with the Red interior.
Updated picture of my radio bezel with the new Mazda 6-Disc Changer, and Art-Works Vent Rings, and A/C Panel.

Updated CLOSEUP Picture of my Eunos Roadster Door Sills, these came from the V-Special Roadster, Notice the Lettering is in Bronze, yummy, more Bling Bling for the hoopty!! hahaha The stock JDM version is scripted in Black lettering.

More recent pictures of the interior swap!

Top down goodness!! \(^_^)/
