Here is my addition to CarDomain's collection of sweet vans. It's a short wheelbase 1987 GMC Vandura with a very tired TBI 305 (370,000 km or... umm... 230,000 miles) .
Initially I was looking for a cheap van to haul parts for my 1970 Buick Electra (page forthcoming) but this one is more than just a workhorse. I feel bad about putting anything in it, actually. It just looks too cool when it's empty.

Right off the top I have to give credit to the previous owner, Carl Ricker, of Hamilton, ON, for doing almost all of the work to this van before I got it.
Here's the van pretty much how I bought it:

P235/60 R15s on the front and some P255/75 R15s on the back give it that stance that all shortbox vans should have.

DeuceDeuce5's 1987 GMC VanduraThe dual exhaust exits just before the rear wheels on both sides. It's the next best thing to real sidepipes. When I bought the van it had two resonators and no mufflers. It sounded awesome but I live on a quiet street and you could hear me coming a block away. Thus, cheap-ass Cherrybomb Turbos were installed and the noise was cut about in half. I guess I'm not cool for not stickin' it to The Man but it's all about tone, not volume.

This is the view everyone gets when I take a full minute to pass a truck. The next major improvement will be a rebuilt 350. I've already got the Holley Performance throttle body for it.

I'm pretty new to this car audio thing but apparently these are good subs. They feel good to me.

DeuceDeuce5's 1987 GMC VanduraThe view from the back. Those seats are on their way out. I've got captain's chairs that will go in as soon as I patch some minor holes in the floor. Stupid salt.

DeuceDeuce5's 1987 GMC VanduraThis is what I see when I turn around. Three inch foam, black fun-fur and blacklights make this the place to be on any given night. Well, now that the compressor is in my garage, that is.

I bought this '86 Chev conversion van for its interior, since the thing is rotting from the ground up. Captain's chairs, sofa bed, direct & indirect lighting, gauge package; it's got it all.

I rent the basement of my friend's place. Someday he'll get to use his entire driveway again.

I just painted the wheels to match the body. I think it looks good but it's only temporary since two of them are practically ovals. I've got some 8.5" aluminum turbines that are sitting in the garage awaiting tires. The tires on the van now won't fit them.

OOOHH, paint chips.

I love the aluminum grille. It makes the van look even wider which, in my books, is exactly what a grille should do. That, and keep deer and children out of your radiator, of course.

I'll post more pictures as the work progresses.
