hammondfra's 2003 Hyundai Tiburon

Welcome To My Page

2003 Hyundai Tiburon Purchased on 7/7/03

Will update page soon...much has changed

I have had this car now going on 2 1/2 years. Since I now am finally getting around to getting some modifications done to, the car becomes more pleasurable to drive. The first modification I did to the car was the Sub box fix, this is because someone at the factory forgot how to wire correctly, and the polarity had to be reversed to get the bass out of the factory sub.

The first real modification was my Injen SRI, this mod made a very noticeable increase in power and an intense sound. It made the engine sound more alive when the throttle is initially engaged to WOT. The next set of modifications that I did to the vehicle were more for how it felt during shifting. The shifter for the most part in the Tiburon is ok, but has some slop in it. This occasionally would cause missed gears and slower shifting. So I had replaced the rubber bushing in the linkages to urethane ones. This made a huge difference on how this shifting felt. It went from slop to super tight and precise, movements that were more deliberate and quick in and out of the gears. The next modification to follow was the slave valve spring removal. This spring causes the clutch to be delayed by about 1 second from full engagement. This would in turn made driving the car a bit on the rocky side. When the spring is removed from the slave valve cylinder, the clutch engagement is more responsive and direct. Shifting became more pleasurable and fun.

The next modification that was completed on the car was the addition of the Tanabe Super Medallion Exhaust. This mod by far is one that is a must. I never realized how much potential the Tiburon had with power and sound until I had this modification done. My Tiburon now has some serious pull, it is a bit on the sluggish side below 3000 rpms now, but as soon as you hit 3000 at WOT, the damn thing takes off. The sound is incredible, I went from silent to a nice low growl on start-up, to a nice low toned hum on take off. The exhaust note gets noticeably less as you climb over 3500 rpms.

The modifications set for the near future are the NGM headers w/ the pre-programmed Mafterburner. This should be completed around late spring / early summer. With the possibility to add some new springs and an FSB into the equation, to help with traction with all the added power. The Tiburon as it is, I like it, who cares if it is a Hyundai. They did a great job on a stylish car that had an initially large amount of torque. The platform is easy to modify, expensive, but still easy. For being an entry level sports coupe, this is defiantly the most bang for your buck.

I want to take this moment, and thank everyone at www.crookedh.com for having such an astounding set of resources and sponsors that have made the Tiburon GK model one hell of a car to drive.

Welcome to Cardomain.com Frank. Very nicely done and very clean Tiburon SE. Loving the color and the wheels are sick. Very clean interior and engine bay. Also loving the new flip-out headunit and JL subs. The mods you've added are looking so nice, Tiburons don't get the respect they deserve. I hear people say all the time how slow these cars are and can't compete with Hondas or what ever. We have our o5 Tiburon GT, and haven't had any problems beating others on the streets. What other mods are your working on? I love how you painted your headlight assembly too. One sick ride man and hit you with 5 stars. Stop by and checkout our rides and please rate, thank you! =)
