First, lets look at the progression of my different amp racks over last last 3 Years.Summer of 1998Here was my first amp rack back in the Summer of 1998, very simple but kept everything kinda out of the way. At this time I was not too worried about looks. As you can see at the time I had 2 Alpine MRV-F300 4 Channel amps and an MRV-T301. I had one of the F300's powering my fronts (Kenwood 5.25 Comps) and my rears (Clarion Pro 5x7's). The other F300 was bridged for my 2 "Bargian" special 10" subs in a bandpass box. I think the T301 was powering another set of 6x9's in boxes on the floor in the back. (LOL, little did I know about sound.... My theory was (More Speakers = Louder)Also you can see under the amp rack, I installed a PG 1 Farad Capacitor. As you can see, That winter I bought a couple more amps and got an awesome deal on a PG Line Driver. I had no where to mount the amps so I stacked them for the winter. I planned in the spring I would create a new amp rack, The wiring really scared me ALOT when I was dealing with this mess.... eeek.At this point now I had an additional 2 12" MTX Blue Thunder Legend subs in my back seat..... That made 4 subs in boxes sitting in my back seat, made for an interesting site, I wish I had a photo of it.Spring of 1999Something had to be done about that mess in the trunk, so this was my end result after going to an IASCA car show, I got some good ideas.I ripped out the old rack, Had a really awesome sub box built for 2 12" subs and then on the back of the box I installed my new Audio Controls EQL and the MTX X-Over.Here is a picture of my Subs behind the back seat. We cut it out and bolted the box to the frame. This way the bass is confined to inside the cabin and for DB Drags I can just remove the back seats easy. Then in the trunk I made a trim panel to clean up the looks. The Capacitor and Power Distribution blocks are still located in the same place underneath the rack. But you have to admit, this looks a heck of a lot safer for me AND my car.I sold a few of my amps and now all I have is the 2 F300's (4 Channels) and 2 MRV-T500's (2 Channels) left. I also bought new front speakers, I got a set of Infinity Reference 5.25 comps. Wow, they were SO much better then the Kenwoods! I also ended up blowing up the 10" subs so the box is gone and my MTX Blue Thunder Legends were stolen. That sucked! SO I had lots of power now so I bought a pari of 12" MTX Blue Thunder Extreme subs. 400W RMS / 1000W Peak. Now I was getting into subs that REALLY pounded!I have 1 4 Channel Bridged to 2 Channel to Power my fronts, the other 4 channel is the same for my rears and each 2 Channel is bridged for each 12" Sub. This proved to be a very powerful and stable setup. Here is a picture of my back seat removed and you can see the Blue Thunder Extreme Subs, I really liked the box. The idea was to enclose the subs into the main cabin, when they pounded into the trunk the bass sucked and the whole back end just rattled REALLY badly. So This Setup lasted until the Fall of 2000. I now had more knowledge and more great ideas for better looks of the system.
