Ok, here's an update. The 4" Rockfords I was going to put in the dash won't fit without major modification to the cluster enclosure. Since the truck is still, very under waranty, I chose to install some weak ass, Kenwood 4x6" speakers. I am not a big fan of Kenwood, but was pleasently surprised by the sound these little guys put out. For now they'll do.

The doors! another nightmare. The 6.5" Rockfords go way to deep for the "new" style of window track. I was unaware of the apparent difference between 2000, and 2001 ZR2 Blazers. I had to make a custom enclosure for them, it moves them to the inside quite a bit, but you would never know it from the sound. All in all I am still maintaining the "factory look" I was going for...So far.
I added a Kenwood 6 pack, I mount on the box, and I have the cap in a sweet place inside the rear side compartment. It was a shit load of work to get in there, and my back is killing me, but it looks great, and is totally hidden.

the best part, I was at a stop light today, and an old couple in an Escort was stopped in front of me. The lady was driving, and the old man...WAS PLUGGING HIS EARS!!!

Damn! That felt good, disturbing the peace...love it. I doubt the truck that loud, but Damn! Funny!

I will be posting some new pics soon as I get 'em back.

I still have to install the rear 5.25" Rockfords. I am a little scared, the rear section is one huge peice, and if the install so far is any indication, I am going to need the RUB-a535 and a weekend free.

I have currently installedg a Rockford Fosgate 800a4 amp, 2-12" RF subs in a pre-fab box and a RF cap.

The truck is Victory Red, 4.3L Vortech V6, 4-speed Automatic Transmission, Slotted Aluminum Alloy Wheels, Air, Power Windows, Power Door Locks, Tilt Steering, Cruise Control, Locking Rear Differential, Power Seats, Overhead Console, AM/FM with CD, Premium Sound (not for long)

Now you don't...
That's not "half-assed custom"...
I used my whole ass.

My over-all goal is to get a solid sound, while maintaining the factory look, and function. I used the pre-fab box so I can easily drop the seats and slide it forward, or remove it all together (NOT!) for loading camping gear or whatever.
