This van is my never ending project.
I bought this van in December of 1994, my car had just died and this was available for a great price for the shape it was in. It was a 1990, had been my dad's company vehicle since new, power everything, factory mirror tint on the windows (slider and rear), cloth bucket seats, alarm, AC, no rust, and no body damage. It also had one of those utility packages, ya know, shelves and a metal wall behind the seats and all. It had 119,000 miles on it but it didn't leak anywhere, wasn't burning any oil, and ran beautiful.
The interior is clean and simple, all black with a bed in the back (naturally ;-) and a few accents lights.

Dave_Astro's 1990 Chevrolet Astro It is riding on American Racing AR-23s (15x8) and running BFG Radial T/As all the way around. 245/60 on the front and 275/60 on the rear.

I have replaced the stock fiberglass mono springs with steel leaf springs, and added a rear anti-sway bar, as well as a front steering stabilizer.

Dave_Astro's 1990 Chevrolet Astro B&M Light Truck Mega-shifter, also have a B&M Stage II shift kit and I have the valve to change the 700R4 from a 3 speed with OD to a true 4 speed, this allows you to cruise in OD at more than 3/4 throttle. Also have installed the B&M extra capacity chrome tranny pan.

I have a Fast Chip stage 2 chip and an MSD 6A ignition system with matching coil. I modified the exhaust by installing Edlebrock headers, a high flow cat and a Hooker MaxiFlow, single in/dual out muffler - running 2.5" pipe the whole way. The pipes come straight out the back on either side of the plate. I am using an K&N filter-charger air filter, and only use Ams-oil synthetics in the engine and tranny.

My PPI Power class 4800 and 1800 amps.
These are connected to a Kenwood Excelon Z828 head unit, and powering 4 JLW10 subs, 6 MB Quart 6x9s and 2 MB Quart 6.5s. I have 2 Optima yellow tops, two 1 farad lightning caps and a 180amp alternator for power. I have no idea what my SPL is as I have never entered in a competition.

I modified the stock gages, I painted the background a satin white and the needles black and changed all the bulbs to blue, looks a lot nicer (I think)

The slider is a gull wing now, though I need to have some plates welded in to mount the struts to still. I have shaved the door handle on the gull wing, and had the slider track filled.
I had the rear door shaved also and had the plate frenched into the roll pan.

I have also added a hood scoop, custom fender flares, front air damn, steel roll-pan, Air Horns, sun roof, venturi vent, rear wing, wiper cowling and matching visor, 3 sets of neon lights, euro tail lights and normal clear corners on the front.

All the fiberglass work was done by Hank at www.Customfiberglass.com . He also did the rear door, the frenched plate, and shaved the handle on the gull-wing.

All those little orange things on the air damn are illuminated license plate bolts.. they work in conjunction with the parking lights and turn signals.
After this pic was taken, I added lights to the visor as well, so the van has a nice shape at night coming down the road. If you look at the pic at the top of the page, you can see them (barely) on the visor.

Future plans include a new rear wing, removing the rear vent and installing a second 15x30 sunroof (have that and doing it as soon as it is warm!), a V8 swap, adding a computer inside for on-board navigation (via connected GPS unit) and for playing MP3s and movies, etc. I tried this out last summer using my laptop from work and it worked great, but since I can't afford my own laptop, I am stripping down a spare computer and building it into the van.
And finally.... PAINT!. I have no idea what color, keep changing my mind.
I want something non-factory and bright. I want you to see this blob of color a mile away that will catch your attention.
