Still A Few Things To Complete... Will Update As Items Are Added!!
I Really Appreciate You Stopping By - Thanks...
Before we installed anything, we waited for everything to arrive... This picture is the result of our wait (we thought)...Turns out that many things were updated even from this point... For example, the RF cd player was a rfx-8310 and we then upgraded to a rfx-8330...
Retail value Of equipment:
$6,800.00 not including installation costs.
Projected professional installation costs..Value quoted by a local install shop:
$3,000.00
All together I actually only spent:
$3,253.00
Lets just say that auctions (FOR NEW ITEMS) are a great way to save money;O)
This is the picture of what we originally thought should be placed in the car... However, as mentioned above, we upgraded way before we even put it in... The fuse block was replaced by a 100 amp RF circuit breaker and Stinger battery terminals... $100.00 upgrade!!
We installed two different amplifiers... a RF 800a2 and a RF 600a4... These RCA cables were what we selected to run from the cd player to the amplifier. The 4 channel RCA cables are Stinger (Hyper Series) and the 2 channel RCA cables are Lightning Audio (Storm Series). These were run under the carpeting and will not be seen in the final install.
These are representative of the distribution blocks we used in this install. With all main feeds being 4 gauge you need to reduce the 4 gauge to 8 gauge to feed the amps this was accomplished with a series of distribution blocks. You will not see these in the final pictures as they are tucked behind the amp rack.
I had to include this picture only because these RF HX2 10" subwoofers are bad assed. They have vents all around the basket of the sub and a 3 inch port to keep to magnet cool... Not to mention the magnet is about as big as the sub's length and these bad boys hold 500 watts continuous and 1000 peak power a piece!! CAN WE SAY POWER?!?!
This is phase one of the subwoofer box that holds the two 10" Rockford Fosgate HX2's...
This is phase two... I could foresee problems putting standard ports in the box... soooo I put the ports down at the bottom as part of the box...
This is phase three... The cutting of the holes!!
This is phase four.... The purple velvet has been applied and some of the screws have been put in place... We wanted an "old school" style box when we thought of the crushed velvet. The velvet was imported from Pakistan!! SWEET!!! The background of this page is actually the velvet we used on the speaker box.
This is the owner of the setup putting in his "sweat equity" hours... Hell... Nothing comes for free... If it did, wouldn't you agree that everybody would have a stereo system in their car??
This is the OEM Subaru stereo... Cute isn't it?? The slot is a full double-din... SO NOW THE MADNESS BEGINS!!!
The current setup... Rockford Fosgate CD player is a 2000 model (RFX8330)... The current EQ (possible EPX2 in the future) is a PA2. You will notice two devices sitting in the tray below the EQ... The device on the left is the "Firefly" control for the neon speaker rings... The other device is a Whistler voltage meter accurate to .o1 +/-. We installed a .25 farad Rockford Fosgate Capacitor behind the cd player and EQ... Just to ensure that everything got enough POWER! Overkill??? I DON'T THINK SO!! If you think that is an overkill that is what seperates the men from the boys :o)
This is a completed look to the ass-end of this car.. The two amplifiers in the middle are Rockford Fosgate... (left) Punch 600a4 and (right) a Punch 800a2... The capacitors on both sides of the amplifiers are Fockford Fosgate Power 1 farad digital monitoring caps (model # = CP-7436). Just above the amplifiers you will see a cd changer... Of course, it is a Rockford Fosgate 8-disc... you can see a better picture below.. (model # - rxf-8810). The amp rack was done in a deep crushed purple velvet.
A better look at the 8-disc Rockford Fosgate CD Changer.. A perfect place for such a thing wouldn't you agree???
Want to take a look into the back seat??? This is what it looks like went the seats are pulled down...
Night time picture of the picture above... I think it looks pretty cool... what do you think?? Vote above!! For those that want to know.. The subwoofer neons are DIABLO NEON SUB RINGS... Click Next Page!!
