Here's my baby - a 1994 Pearl Audi Cabriolet, built on the early A4 chassis. Notice the 17" Borbet rims w/ Bridgestone 45-series tires. New custom fog lights have been added since this picture...all else is stock.

Here she is with her top down. The leather gets hot as hell in the summer, but I can deal with it...One of my goals was to design my system to sound great with the top down as well as up. I tried many different brands of equipment, and I finally got the right combo to work....

Now take a look at my install. I am an installer at a small shop in VA, so I did this in about 2 full days (Dynamat included). I used JVC, Audiobahn and Cadence components throughout the install.

Here is the deck, an original JVC El Kameleon. I have been tempted to replace this guy several times, but it's just been too good to me. Maybe I'll swap it for an Alpine CVA-1005 one day - who knows - T.V. in the dash is just TOO tempting! Anyway, at the very bottom you can see the remote from my trunk mount EQ, which gives me Q-control and bass adjustment from the dash - which is great to have, and a MUST for my setup, as you will find out.

My front stage is made up of 2 Aluminum Spun Cadence Ultrashock 4", as well as Cadence 1" tweets flush mounted in the useless factory side-defroster holes. These sound terrific, but they obviously lack good midbass due to size and location - great highs though.

In the rear panels I used Cadence Ultrashock 5.25" coaxials, with the swiveling tweeter aimed toward driver and passenger. These provide decent mid-frequencies, but here is where my control of my sub is key.

I depend on this baby for more than I want to - but until my door pods are built, this is my primary source of bass, and midbass for that matter. Due to the aesthetics of my car, along with speaker size, I can't sqeeze but so much midbass out of my mids and highs. This is a Cadence flat-piston 8" sub firing into the car. It is mounted flush onto a wood baffle behind the rear seat arm rest, which leads back into a ski-portal, extending into the trunk. I wedged a 8"x8"x15" sealed box into the ski hole to meet the back of the woofer, and this little sub does everything I need it to do and more. It's amazing how much bass I have when the convertible top is down. The trunk was not on option, due to trunk size and the fact that there is a 2-foot sealed storage compartment that the convertible top folds down into that separates the trunk from the car interior. With my bass EQ, I have full control of my my primary bass/midbass source.

Now to the trunk...after removing the spare tire (I kno I kno),
I had an ideal place for my amplifiers. The amp on the left is an Audiobahn A4400, which sends 50x4 rms to the front stage and rear coaxes. The amp on the right is an Audiobahn A2300, running bridged to the Cadence 8" at minimal gain. An Audiobahn Line Driver, two fuse blocks and two sticks of Neon sit above the amplfiers. Notice the JVC 12-Disc Changer on the far left. Not picures is the key to my system, the Audiobahn AEX-200 dual 20-band EQ which is mounted above the amplifers. The trunk draws some attention, as all of the components have a chrome finish - it looks pretty wild - and best of all, sounds great. Thanks for looking, and email with any questions or comments!!
