One of the rules was that it had to look stock, and we had to keep the factory radio. Besides that, we had alot of room to work with.

One of the first additions was pulling the stock 6.5" subwoofers out of the factory kickpanel. In this car, they have placed the subwoofer high into the kickpanel and they actually had an enclosure for the subwoofer that was built into the fenderwells. Once we pulled out the stock speakers, we took a pair of Kove 6.5" midbasses and put them in their place.

Getting your hand and tools that high into the kickpanel is far from easy.

Next, we were looking for a way to run speakers in the door. In this car, they have a speaker in the kickpanel (that we already replaced) as well as a tweeter in the top of the door. At the bottom of the doorpanels, they have two storage pockets.

We decided to replace the stock tweeter with the tweeter out of a morel 2 way system.

That was the easiest part, since they are about the same size and shape. The next step was the trickiest. We took off the door panel of the car, and we took off the front storage pocket. In its place, Clark made an aluminum trim plate that he bent that would look the same size and shape. He then took a piece of thin open mesh metal mesh and cut and bent it to fit behind that grille.

Then we took both pieces, sent them off to our local auto body shop and had the pieces painted to match the rest of the interior of the car. Most of the stuff in this car has a high gloss paint finish so it was easier to match then a vinyl or leather door panel would have. The end results looks like something they would do at the factory back in Germany. Here are a pair of closeups.
