I bought my Polo CL Coupe from my great auntie back in March 2004. She had owned it from one year old, and had made sure it was regularly serviced and looked after. It came with a genuine 50k miles on the clock, which for a '93 car wasn't bad at all.
The car needed a little bit care, and the faulty rear wash/wipe motor, broken aerial, and radio were replaced. I also spent what felt like weeks getting the paint work up to scratch. Here's what things looked like before any major work had been done:

Having just come off the back of modified car magazine phase, I felt I couldn't leave things alone, and quickly I tried to draw inspiration from the internet. I stumbled across many German exaples, and Club Polo which pointed me in the direction of this car:

Having never seen a Mark3 Polo or any Polo for that matter modified I drew great inspiration from it and started gathering ideas together for what I might like the finished article to look like.
I quickly got to know the workings of the car and in particular the engines. It was then I discovered they offered the Mark3 Polo with a 1.3 supercharged engine in the form of VW's baby hot hatch, the Polo G40! I then made it my goal to have my car converted from a humble 1.3 shopping trolley to one of the more shocking G40s...
