Hoping that we can change this push/pull style headlamp switch to a turn style.
Wonder if someone who has installed or is installing an aftermarket stereo, would donate their stock CD Player Stereo to us so we can get rid of our Tape model.
Looking for a way to bring our faded front bumper top piece back to black. The wife doesn't like the idea of trying to paint it.
Tried 'Back to Black'... seems to work good. We'll see it it lasts.
Some folks online think that our Ram has a lift kit on it. While checking out the rear brakes, I snapped this pic of the rear suspension. I'm still new to Rams, but I don't think ours has any aftermarket lift kit.
Here's a shot of the front coil. The part number sticker is still on it. Clearly no lift.
Not quite sure what this particular piece is or does. It's bolted to the framerail, and has a linkage that connects down on the lower shock mount.
Update: Found out it's a brake proportioning valve. It will sense a load and adjust brake pressure to accomodate.
Also, on both sides of the framerail, there's this piece. It swings freely. Need to find out what they are too.
Update: I'm told just old exhaust hangers. Must have had dual exhaust at one time. Wish it still did.
Noticed this piece while inspecting the front brakes. Some kinda spacer ring looking thing. There's only one on the passenger side. Wondering if the driver's side should have one as well.
Update: I found out that the ring is a shim to help with brake pull. There was a TSB bulletin release about them, and they were dealer installed on select Rams to cure any problems. I guess it'll stay on. They come in different thickness sizes.
If your 2nd Gen Ram seems to be hunting for a gear while driving, the problem could be with the speed sensor. It's only $23, and should be one of the preventive things you do right after purchasing your truck, since the trannys in these year Rams have a bad rap for dying. It's located near the rear of the transmission, and can be seen in this pic. It's the tan colored sensor. You will get some fluid out of here when changing it.
Here's what I found on mine once I had it out. Notice the buildup of crap on the tip. This should cure the hunting for gears problem. Ours rig only had 53K miles, and look at the amount of buildup. Also going to get the bands adjusted and a fluid and filter change. Gotta baby these trannies.
Also swapped out the oil sending unit, to fix our irratic reading gauge. It's located in a fun spot to get to... beside the distributor behind the intake. The electrical connector has a red tab that you first have to pull. Then you squeeze the connector to release the tabs on the sides. Then the connector pulls free. You have to buy a special oil sender socket that's deep enough to slip over the electrical connector. I got mine at Checker Auto.
The oil pressure still seems to be an issue. At cold start up, it reads about 50psi. As the engine slowly warms up to operating temp, the psi slowly drops to about 22psi.
Helped install a 5" lift on a Ram Sport. I think it came out nice. The 35" Truxus MTs set it off too.
Before and After...
And then we parked it beside my 2500. Before the thing was shorter, but now it makes mine look small...
Saw this CTD in town. Gonna take a closer look at it...
