Exterior Modifications

As I said on the first page I ordered my wide body kit and it came in this week so follow along with the install. The first couple of pictures are of the kit in its packaging as I recieved it. The kit was ordered from

Deft Racing

and the kit is a CIANCI wide body kit.

The kit was incredible straight out of the box the workmanship is exquisite. The front fenders require the drilling out of all the bolt holes but this was not a big deal as the molding process left minor indentations so it was very easy to figure out where to drill. The next set of pictures follow along the mouning of the front fenders.

All in all it took me approximately 6 hours from unpacking to finished install for the front fenders. The only additional body work that will be necessary for the front fenders will be installing screens in the vents and a little finish work on the vents themselves I estimated an hour and a half per fender to complete. The front fenders look incredible and really make me realize that I will need new wheels and tires as well as my Tien coil overs much sooner than I had thought. I will probably not get to the rear overlays until next weekend. I still need to order my fiberglass to metal bonding agent as well as my Sparco gas cap. I will update once I get the next phase done.

Well I am still waiting on my gas cap and bonding agent to get in and its kinda depressing so I bought myself a present to make me feel better..

10-08-05 Since the last update my tires and wheels came in and I have them mounted and balanced and on the car. My Sparco gas cap and fuel funel finaly made it here as well as my Duramix 4188 bonding agent. Today I installed the rear fenders it actually went pretty well even though I had some rivet issues that caused a minor change in plan but luckily I had self tapping sheet metal screws which came through for me in the end.

First two pics are not that exciting all they show is that I had to rough up the painted surface before I could put on the bonding agent. A little 80 grit sandpaper and about 10 mins with an orbital sander.

Well the first stage has been completed. Now I just need to get my Sparco gas cap mounted because as of now I have a full tank of gas but when that runs out I will have no way to fill my tank up. Then once the bonding agent has had 48 hours to cure I will remove all of the sheet metal screws and begin the process of filling the holes and molding/smoothing out the edges. I couldn't really get any of the pictures to show how well the front and rear panels line up. Let me tell you it looks freaking incredible in person. I will post an update once I finish the next stage.

Well I have not completly finished molding in the rear quarter panels but I have taken out all the screws and filled the holes. I have also mounted and installed my Sparco fuel filler. The rear of the rear quarter panels are molded in now I just need to finish the front and tops. The reason I am posting these pictures now is due to a request for some high resolution pics of the car from diffrent angles to try and show the wide body kit a little better. I took these at the higest resolution my camera would allow.

Well thats it for now. Next set of pictures will hopefully show the rear quarters in a full coat of primer.

10-31-05 Halloween update. Well I snapped a couple of pictures of the car with the front and rear primered and just wanted to add those. So without further adieu.

So at this point all of the hard body work is done. I am now saving for my CF Hood, rear wing, and second gen rear bumper. I will also be replacing the front bumper with a custom bumper if and when the group buy goes through. Well my faithful readers thats all for now.

12-23-05 Update: Well I have picked out my rear wing. A local club member gave me an awesome deal on a genuine Veilside GTIII CF Spoiler and I must say it looks very bad ass. I also have a date set with for the paint booth. My brother-n-law Clint owns a paint and body shop in Boise Idaho, Ace Auto Body and Customs and has agreed to paint my car for cost in March of 06. I am really excited and looking forward to driving up to Boise and spending time with my sisters and their families and getting my car painted as well. I have decided on the CF hood I want although the only hang up is the manufacturer has not yet started making them for the first gen cars yet. I am really hoping that he can get going on the first gen version and I can get one before my car goes in for paint. As for the custom front bumper, I was in on a group buy to get a Viperesque bumper made and the guy running the buy screwed us all out of our money so the front bumper is on hold for now. Well onto the updated pictures.

03-22-06 Well I just made it back from Boise and the car is finally painted! We stripped the body down and did a lot of sanding to get her nice and smooth then shot her with 3 coats of primer followed by more sanding. Then a coat of sealer followed by 3 coats of base, 3 coats of pearl, and 3 coats of clear. I went with the factory pearl white and it came out exceptionaly well. My CF 575 hood should be coming hopefuly sometime in April so I should have that on soon. Here are some pics

I am going to have some professional photos taken of the car as soon as I get my new hood and will post those once I have them.

This is the Venom bumper, it started out as a dream by a couple of Stealth owners on 3SI. We had one aborted attempt at getting it made that was a huge mess. Then we contacte Bill at DeftRacing, proposed the idea and he made it a reality! Yes, Bill is Da Man!

At this point I have the bumper mounted up for test fitting, fit and finish is incredible. I will hopefully be getting my FMIC and hardpipes installed this weekend and once we see if we need to do any "clearancing" on the back structure of the bumper i'll pull it off and send it out for paint. Excuse the quality of these pics they were taken with my phone camera. Once I get her back from paint Jessica will be doing another photoshoot of my car so I will have some quality pics to post.
