The Blue Oval's Iconic Pony Car Just Keeps Getting Better

It's virtually impossible to think of an American car more iconic than the Ford Mustang. In the nearly 50 years since its introduction, the Mustang has been wildly popular, and the amount of aftermarket parts available is dizzying. Even modern Mustangs feel about as complicated as a hammer, and more importantly, they feel twice as hard to break. Base models still come with the 4.0-liter V6, which puts out an anemic 210HP and 240-lbs of torque, but GTs get the 4.6-liter V8 which features the cold air intake from the 2008 Bullit special edition model, and is good for a healthy 315HP and 325-lbs of torque. While all Mustangs use live rear axles as opposed to the more sports-oriented independent rear suspension, a track pack offers 3.73 gearing, a stiffer suspension, beefier brakes and a relaxed traction control setting, so the electronic nannies won't get in the way of lower lap times. Overall, the Mustang provides a tremendous amount of bang for the buck.
