This is the area that I'm really putting my focus on right now, I can't stand cars with sloppy suspensions. I flat out re... Show morefuse to drive my mom's jeep because it feels like a marshmallow om wheels. I am also interested in autocrossing this car every once in a while which is another reason to put money into the chassis. And for the people who are going to ask, YES I plan on lowering it. I need to make it threw this coming winter first and the snow in NE Ohio gets bad enough to give 4X4 trucks and jeeps trouble. A 2wd civic is going to need all the help it can get.
Wheels and tires: I got a deal here, I was bored out of my mind looking on craigslist and noticed a listing for a set of 17" civic rims. The listing said that the seller wanted $300 for the rims and the tires which made me a bit leary of this deal. I called the guy and set up a meeting so I could check them out and judge for myself how sketchy this deal actually was. Showed up to the address which was in a nice neighborhood and greeted the guy selling the rims. He showed them to me and gave me a credible and believable story. They weren't what you would expect for rims for $300, a bit of curb rash, a little ding and a missing centercap was as bad as it got. The rims ended up being 17"x7" 5zigen rims that where wrapped in 205/40zr17 Kumho Supra tires with plenty of tread. I offered $225 and he parted with them for $250. Not a bad deal I thought.
Not bad compared to the stockers:
Adding to the new rims and tires are a set of strut tower braces that I got off of eBay. I got front and rear uppers and lowers, uppers are installed lowers will probably be installed soon as well. These are amazing it cut the body roll on corners to almost nothing. Show Less
First road trip with the civic! Went to somerset, Pa to watch my friends race their quads at the Mountain Ridge G.N.C.C. (grand national cross country). A bi... Show moret of a hike, roughly 150 miles away and 3 1/2 hours of drive time, going up and down hills all the way. Me and a friend went together in my car and my buddy and his girlfriend took his truck with his quad. First thing that I had to do was put the quiet core back in once we got on the free way. I was also hauling 2 mountain bikes and gear for two people for 3 days so going up hill was a bit rough:). Once we got to the track go figure it had rained and the place was a mud hole and the drive way, if you could call it that, was filled with fist sized rocks poking out of the dirt which was real fun with the 40 series tires. By the second day it was dusty, which added to the mess on my car.
The following are a select few of the pictures that I took while we where there, enjoy!
B.N.R. or Big Nutz Racing is the team that my friend rides for. These where taken right before we rolled out at my buddy's house.
