The stock oil presser switch is nothing but an on off switch. If there is no or not enough oil presser the switch is off. If there is enough oil presser the switch is on. The signal then goes to a resitor that limits the power going to the gague to make it look like it has a normal oil presser. If you have not done this conversion on your T-bird you can watch the oil pressure gagues and see that it does not move at all when the car is running. So this is how you make your oil pressure gauge on your T-bird work like a real gague. Ok first thing first get some Teflon tape and a new sending unit. You have a few to pic from. Standard Motor Products: PS-60, Echlin: OP6091, Motorcraft: SW-1547-B, E4ZZ-9278-A, or BWD S334. I just went to the parts store and ordered a sender for a 88 5.0 T-bird with the gauge. Make sure not to get the one for the light it would be the wrong one and be the same as the one that is on the car already.Then you need to locate your oil pressure switch.
