At first I bought some cheap subs and amp from BJ's wholesale club. As a total cost for 2 8" subs, enclosure, and 300 watt amp with all the cables o... Show morenly cost me $120. The amp after about 6 months was shot to hell and didnt work again. The old box I filled with polyfil to enrich the bass sounds and it didnt sound half bad for a POS amp and Pro Thump subs. After I fried the amp I decided to get a better one. A REALLY GOOD one. My girlfriend bought it for me for my birthday so I couldn't complain. Insert Thanks Holly here. :-) The new amp is a 600 watt mono channel amp that powers 2 12 inch pioneer IMPP subs in a bandpass enclosure that I made myself from 3/4" MDF from Home Depot. To power the amp I used 4 gauge power and ground cable. This is what the box looked like when I first constructed it. Because the plexiglass covers a large surface the bass was making it rattle too much so I had to fix it All I did was went back to Home depot and got some aluminum. It did the job perfect. Now there are no more rattles. When I built the box I also used caulk to make it more airtight. The only problem now is that the back of the box cant be pulled off because of the caulk. The head unit is a Pioneer that I bought from Walmart. I did my shopping and Walmart and Circuit City have the same price for everything in their audio departments. To provide 12 volts to my amp at all time I added a .5 farad lightning audio cap. This was the only thing that I didnt install myslef because I didnt have anything to crimp connectors to the 4 gauge cable. Show Less
